Police Press Release - November 4, 2019

Eastern District
Commercial Robbery / Severna Park
 
On November 3, 2019 at approximately 4:25 a.m., officers responded to the Royal Farms store located at 517 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park for a report of a robbery. An unknown male suspect entered the store and attempted to open the register. The clerk confronted the male who then displayed a handgun. The clerk retreated to the rear of the store and the male removed merchandise and fled. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The Robbery Unit is investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 410-222-4720 or the TipLine 410-222-4700.

Western District
Attempted Citizen Robbery / Laurel
 
On November 3, 2019 at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Laurel Fort meade Road for a report of a robbery. The adult male victim was approached by two suspects. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded property from the victim. The victim fled without handing over any property. Responding officers located the two suspects inside a nearby business and placed them into custody. One of the suspects was found to be in possession of a replica handgun BB gun.

Western District
 
Over the weekend we were notified of an incident involving an officer from Western District. The officer in question responded to the Corridor Marketplace on Laurel-Ft. Meade Road around 10 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 for hundreds of people gathering on foot to watch vehicles perform racing type maneuvers in the parking lot. The officer pulled into the crowd and it is believed he struck at least one person with his vehicle, causing minor injuries. This incident is currently under investigation and the officer has been suspended.
