Stand on the sidelines and view a trade that is over 100 years old but still very much alive today at Kinder Farm Park.       Come and enjoy good friends, great food and all of the festivities as we celebrate not only this magical season, but also the 40th anniversary of the Arnold Senior Center! Our doors opened here in 1974 and from our humble beginnings, we have become the thriving, vibrant Center that we are now! Join us as we recognize and honor some of our most distinguished seniors and hear comments from some of our County leaders.
       

      Feast on our catered meal from Hella’s restaurant which will feature: Hors d'oeuvres from 11:00-12:00 followed by the main course of Salmon, Chicken Marsala, Garlic Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, and an assortment of desserts. Dinner rolls and beverages will also be served. We’ll also have special musical entertainment provided by Joe Davolio from the South County Show Stoppers! And what would the party be without an appearance from a famous jolly old man in a red suit?! And don’t forget about the fantabulous door prizes! Tickets are $15 per person.     • Deliciously Nutritious - North Pole Express Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm Locations: South County Senior Activity Center 27 Stepneys Lane Edgewater, MD 21037 Details: We are rolling up our sleeves and channeling our inner elves to produce some of the most creative and delicious holiday treats! On the menu: peppermint hot cocoa, mini eggnog pies, and festive holiday snacks. There is a $5 commitment fee for this class. This fee will be refunded on the day of the class to participants who attend. Money will be forfeited for all no-shows and cancellations the day of the program. Sign up at the front desk by Thursday, December 5. 
       
       
    • Ethics Commission Meeting Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm Locations: 2666 Riva Road Annapolis, MD 21401 Details:

      The Ethics Commission is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in the commission’s office, unless rescheduled by the commission.  The commission will also have a contingent meeting scheduled for the third Monday of each month. The open portion of the meeting is usually quite brief, about 5-15 minutes.  Visitors are welcome to attend the open portion of the meeting.  If a person would like to bring a matter to the commission's attention or otherwise be heard during either the open or closed portion of the meeting, that person must notify the commission at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, providing that person's name and contact information. The commission has the discretion to permit a person to address the commission during a meeting, and may limit the time for the remarks of any speaker. The commission will not respond to questions or comments during a meeting, but upon request, will respond in writing to any speaker within a reasonable time after the meeting.

    • AARP Smart Drivers Course Time: 9:30am - 1:30pm Locations: Pascal Senior Activity Center 125 Dorsey Road Glen Burnie, MD 21061 Details: Tuesday December 10th, from 9:30-1:30. Learn how to maintain proper following distance; the safest way to change lanes and make turns at intersections; the effects of medications on driving & reducing driver distractions such as eating and cell phone usage. Most insurance companies give discounts for class completion. Be sure to check with yours. Cost: $15.00 for AARP members, $20.00 for non-members. Fee payable by check ONLY (made out to AARP).     • Sawmill Workshop Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Kinder Farm Park Details:

      Weather permitting, Kinder Farm Park's very own Sawmill Club will be running logs through the mill. Wood milled from the sawmill can be seen around Kinder Farm park, including inside the Tobacco Barn Museum and Visitor Center.

      Antique Equipment and Sawmill Club’s mission is the restoration and display of the park’s antique farm equipment, tractors and sawmill. Our goal is to offer presentations and displays of antique farm tools and equipment so that those participating can experience farm life in historical Anne Arundel County. The lumber from the sawmill is used in many of the small barns and other structures in the park.

Bill taught music at 11 elementary and high schools in Anne Arundel for 34 years, retired in 2001 and became a proud grandpa in 2016. His granddaughter is what inspired him to write his first children’s book. His book will be available for purchase and signing. Light refreshments will be served.

We want to see the ugliest holiday sweaters you can purchase or create! Decorate a sweater or sweater vest with your materials of choice, as long as it's over-the-top and ugly, you're good to go. To be eligible as an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contestant you must wear a Christmas, Hanukah or Kwanzaa themed Sweater or Sweater Vest. Turtlenecks, sweatshirt and long or short-sleeved t-shirts will not be accepted. Winner will be determined by a judging panel, and receive a special prize!

    • Van Trip - "The Nutcracker" Ballet Time: 10:15am - 12:30pm Locations: South County Senior Activity Center 27 Stepneys Lane Edgewater, MD 21037 Details: The Ballet Theatre of Maryland invites us to a mini-show of the holiday classic “The Nutcracker.” Experience the magic of Christmas through young Clara’s adventures in the Kingdoms of Snow and Sweets as she rescues her beloved Nutcracker from the Rat Queen’s evil spell. Ticket cost is $10.00. Space on the van is limited. Trip is subject to cancellation depending on availability of transportation. A $5.00 reservation fee is due at sign up to reserve your spot on the van. The reservation fee will be refunded on the day of the trip to participants who attend.     • Weekly Rabies & Microchip Clinic Time: 12:00pm - 3:00pm Locations: 411 Maxwell Frye Road Millersville, MD 21108 Details:

      Low cost rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations are available every Thursday (except holidays) for a period of 3 hours at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. Times are dependent on the season and we do have some clinics with special hours.  The veterinarian leaves promptly at the end time for the clinic. Depending on the length of the line, Animal Care & Control may conclude the line at an appropriate time to ensure all individuals remaining in line receive the services.  
        

      Please note clinics are weather permitting and may be canceled for high temperatures, low temperatures, precipitation, air quality or any other factors that may increase risks to citizens or animals at the outdoor clinic. 
        

      Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.

    • Ring in the Holiday 2019 Time: 12:00pm - 12:30pm Locations: Arnold Senior Activity Center 44 Church Road Arnold, MD 21012 Details: Come celebrate the holidays with us at the Talent Machine Company at St. John's College. They have been delighting audiences with spectacular performances by a cast of talented children from all over the region for close to 30 years. This year’s production will feature some traditional holiday music as well as some new energetic numbers that are sure to please audiences of all ages! See Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, dancing bears, toy soldiers and more! The production will be will be held in the Key Auditorium at St. John’s College Annapolis at 12:00 pm. Senior ticket price is only $5.00 per person! Must sign up and pay by 12/4/19 to guarantee the reservation.

Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn't fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father. As it happens, this is Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a cynical businessman. After a DNA test proves this, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with the childlike Buddy with increasingly chaotic results.

      Santa and his helpers will be on his sleigh handing out candy canes and collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. Please bring your donations and visit Santa at his scheduled stops along the B&A Trail. In the event of rain Park Rangers will visit all of Santa’s stops to collect non-perishable food items.
