    • Blacksmith Shop Workday Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Kinder Farm Park Details: Stop by the Kinder Farm Park Blacksmith Shop and watch the Chesapeake Forge Blacksmith Guild members forging metal, using various tools. Stand on the sidelines and view a trade that is over 100 years old but still very much alive today at Kinder Farm Park.     • Fort George G. Meade, Anne Arundel County, Howard County Sign Joint Workforce Services Agreement Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Army Community Services, Fort Meade, MD 20755 Details:

      Annapolis, Md Fort George G. Meade, Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC), and the Howard County Office of Workforce Development (HCOWD) will sign a formal partnership agreement to expand workforce services for transitioning service members, active duty spouses, and veterans attached to Fort Meade. In addition to those listed below, media will have the opportunity to speak with military spouses who are in the program as well as representatives from Fort Meade Army Community Services, which oversees the Employment Readiness Program at the garrison.

    • Pollinator Wednesday Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details:

      Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary - Emory Waters Nature Preserve

      Join staff and volunteers on Wednesdays 9 am - 12 noon at the Emory Waters Nature Preserve to work in our pollinator gardens. To beat the heat we will meet 8-11 am June 21-Sept 15. See Jug Bay’s newest property and learn about native perennials that support our native butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Volunteers will weed, mulch, prune, and plant to revive, maintain, and build pollinator gardens. Meet new friends and enjoy interesting conversations. Bring gardening gloves, your favorite tools, and plenty of drinking water. Current health guidelines will be enforced. Ages: 12 and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult. Free. Walk-ins welcome! Groups of five or more please call Debra at 410-222- 8006 to arrange. Proceed through the driveway gate about 1 mile to the second white house.

    • Field Work Fridays Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details: Kick off the weekend with the great feeling that comes with doing good and important work! Join our Field Work Fridays at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. Every Friday rain or shine, volunteers join staff naturalists to tackle a stewardship project in need of support. Projects include invasive plant removals, trash clean-ups, gardening, citizen science monitoring, and more. Volunteers are welcome to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy after our work is completed. No prior training or experience is necessary to join our Field Work Fridays! Free. Ages 8 and up, minors must be accompanied by a guardian. Research has shown that kids who play outside are calmer, happier, and more imaginative. What better time to introduce them to nature than in these young formative years. Please be prepared to let your little ones get wet and dirty. Bring an extra change of clothes. It's a good idea to be prepared yourself and wear shoes and clothes you don't mind getting wet and dirty. Older children are welcome when accompanying an infant or toddler!     • Uncovering the History of Jug Bay's Railroad Time: 10:00am - 12:30pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details: Have you ever heard that the Chesapeake Railroad used to travel through the Sanctuary? Join Jug Bay’s Superintendent Patricia Delgado to uncover the history of Jug Bay’s railroad bed. Enjoy a hike that follows the long, lost train tracks within the Sanctuary and learn about the railroad: when it was built, where the trains traveled to and from, why, and what caused its closure.
