Stand on the sidelines and view a trade that is over 100 years old but still very much alive today at Kinder Farm Park.     • Fall Foliage Canoe Trip Time: 2:00pm - 6:00pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details:

      We’ll look for late season flowers, migratory

      birds, beaver, otter, and other wildlife. Trips are

      4 hours long and include: general orientation,

      basic paddling lesson, up to 0.5 mile walk,

      launching canoes, and paddling. Paddlers can

      expect to actively paddle for 2 to 2.5 hours.

      Children will sit in the middle of the canoe with

      adults paddling. Ages 7+. Fee: $20. Register

    • County Executive Steve Schuh to Sign Crisis Response Mental Health Funding Bill Time: 1:30pm - 2:00pm Locations: Station 31 5100 Ritchie Hwy, Brooklyn, MD 21225 Details:

      Annapolis, MD (October 23, 2018) –Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh will sign into law a funding proposal to expand mental health services.

      The $470,000 annual effort would fund two new Mental Health Agency mobile Crisis Response Teams.  The teams are designed to respond primarily to calls from police. County staff is then dispatched to assist in stabilizing the individual and connect them to the most appropriate services. During 2017, the teams were dispatched 1,912 times. The agency serves the entire county on a 24/7/365 basis.

      One of the new Crisis Response Teams will help support the County’s Safe Stations Program, where any resident who is the victim of a heroin/opioid addiction can go to any Anne Arundel County or Annapolis City Fire Station and get connected to services. The second team will be assigned to the Anne Arundel County Public School system, and will help provide needed emergency mental services to the students.

    • Not My Child Presentation Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm Locations: South River High School 201 Central Avenue Edgewater Details:

      There will be a "Not My Child" event regarding substance misuse in our community on October 24, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at South River High School. Please come out and increase your awareness of this fatal epidemic - it affects all communities. 
       

      Are you concerned that your child might be experiencing with drugs or addicted to drugs? Do you want to be prepared to teach your younger children never to start using? Are you looking for help with treatment?
       

      "Not My Child" is a special presentation to remove the stigma of heroin addiction and get help for families caught in the web of drugs. This presentation will include a panel of experts, question and answer from the audience and treatment providers ready to provide information and referral.
