    • Mayo Beach Park Public Open Days Time: 11:00am - 5:00pm Locations: Mayo Beach Park Details: Public open days, on most Sundays from Memorial Day until Labor Day, are free and open to the general public. Visitors on open days can pack a lunch, bring their canoe, kayak, windsurfer or paddle board and enjoy a beautiful afternoon. A shallow beach area is available for water play and wading.

      September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

      • Did you know that one in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 20?
      • Did you know that worldwide, 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer EACH year?
      • Did you know that LESS THAN 5% of the federal governments total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancer?
      • Did you know that in the U.S. more children die of childhood cancer than ANY other disease?
      • We CAN and WILL make a difference when we are UNITED!!! 

      Anne Arundel County firefighters will be hosting our 2nd Annual Super Hero Family Fun Day to benefit Childhood Cancer Awareness. We were able to raise $10,000 towards the fight last year! This year the event will be held on September 30th, 2018 from 12:00-4:00pm in the parking lot of Marley Station Mall 7900 Ritchie Hwy Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
       

      This is a FREE family friendly community event that will include vendors, activities, free fun, business sponsorship, services/informational booths, food and special events. 
       

      This is a great cause for the heartbreaking disease that is not very openly spoken about. Proceeds from this event will go to The Children's Cancer Foundation towards the research and treatment of pediatric cancer. 

       
       
       
    • Blacksmith Shop Workday Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Kinder Farm Park Details: Stop by the Kinder Farm Park Blacksmith Shop and watch the Chesapeake Forge Blacksmith Guild members forging metal, using various tools. Stand on the sidelines and view a trade that is over 100 years old but still very much alive today at Kinder Farm Park. The Blacksmith Shop is open on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    • Electrical Board Meeting Time: 8:30am - 10:30am Locations: 2664 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD. Details: The Board of Electrical Examiners hears complaints with reference to violations of Title 11, Article 4, of the Anne Arundel County Code and advises the Director of Inspection and Permits of its findings and recommendations. They also advise on the issuance of electrician licenses.

      The Plan2040 Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) provides input to the Office of Planning and Zoning in the development of Plan2040. The Commission consists of a Chair, citizens from each of the seven County Council districts, as well as representatives from the environment, building, education, and planning sectors.

      Meetings are on the first and third Wednesday of each month, tentatively set for 4:30 to 6:30 pm in the Chesapeake Room of the Heritage Office Complex (2664 Riva Road, Annapolis). Meetings are open to the public.

    • County Executive Steve Schuh to Sign Veterans Property Tax Credit Legislation Time: 10:30am - 11:00am Locations: American Legion Post 40 500 5th Ave SE, Glen Burnie, MD Details:

      Annapolis, MD (August 17, 2018) –Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh will sign bill 76-16, which establishes a property tax credit for retired veterans in the County.

      The County is home to more than 50,000 veterans.

      Due to the significant increase in positive rabies cases experienced in Anne Arundel County, Animal Control is doing its part to help protect all Anne Arundel County pets from the deadly rabies virus.

      Due to health and safety concerns for animals and humans alike, the Rabies Clinic will be canceled on any day that the anticipated heat index is above 100 degrees or if other inclement weather that could jeopardize the safety of pets and humans.
