    • Blacksmith Shop Workday Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Kinder Farm Park Details: Stop by the Kinder Farm Park Blacksmith Shop and watch the Chesapeake Forge Blacksmith Guild members forging metal, using various tools. Stand on the sidelines and view a trade that is over 100 years old but still very much alive today at Kinder Farm Park. The Blacksmith Shop is open on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Monday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
       
       
    • Kinder Farm Park Owl Prowl Time: 7:15pm - 8:15pm Locations: Kinder Farm Park Visitor Center Details: Come take a walk in Kinder Farm Park to look for owls and other nocturnal animals in the park. Participants will meet at the Park  Visitor Center to go over interesting facts about owls and to familiar themselves with the owl calls. Then they will take an hour walk around the park to popular owl nesting sites with the hope to not just hear owls, but to also see some. Please dress for the weather, a long walk, and bring a flashlight. Please email Ranger Overman at [email protected] to sign up.

    • Ethics Commission Meeting(Cancelled) Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm Locations: 2666 Riva Road Annapolis, MD 21401 Details:

      The Ethics Commission is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in the commission’s office, unless rescheduled by the commission.  The commission will also have a contingent meeting scheduled for the third Monday of each month. The open portion of the meeting is usually quite brief, about 5-15 minutes.  Visitors are welcome to attend the open portion of the meeting.  If a person would like to bring a matter to the commission's attention or otherwise be heard during either the open or closed portion of the meeting, that person must notify the commission at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, providing that person's name and contact information. The commission has the discretion to permit a person to address the commission during a meeting, and may limit the time for the remarks of any speaker. The commission will not respond to questions or comments during a meeting, but upon request, will respond in writing to any speaker within a reasonable time after the meeting.

    • Coffee with a Ranger Time: 9:00am - 10:00am Locations: Fort Smallwood Park Details: Come join a ranger at the Cedar Pavilion of Fort Smallwood Park on Wednesday's from 9-10 AM for a free cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa! Ask questions about the park, local flora and fauna, or simply get to know the rangers a little bit better while you enjoy a warm beverage. This is a FREE program, excluding the $6 park entrance fee.       Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary - Emory Waters Nature Preserve

      Join staff and volunteers on Wednesdays 9 am - 12 noon at the Emory Waters Nature Preserve to work in our pollinator gardens. To beat the heat we will meet 8-11 am June 21-Sept 15. See Jug Bay’s newest property and learn about native perennials that support our native butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Volunteers will weed, mulch, prune, and plant to revive, maintain, and build pollinator gardens. Meet new friends and enjoy interesting conversations. Bring gardening gloves, your favorite tools, and plenty of drinking water. Current health guidelines will be enforced. Ages: 12 and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult. Free. Walk-ins welcome! Groups of five or more please call Debra at 410-222- 8006 to arrange. Proceed through the driveway gate about 1 mile to the second white house.

       
       
    • Preschool Explorers! Time: 10:00am - 11:30am Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details: Bring the little ones to explore nature! Learn about a nature topic and then head out to experience the Sanctuary. We look, feel, listen, and discover at preschooler speed. Dress for the weather – we will always try to go outside! Parents play along with their children. Ages: 3-5. Fee: $6 per child. No refunds for participant cancellations or no shows. Register the child or children only.       Notice Regarding Rabies Clinics

      Low cost rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations are available on specific Thursdays (except holidays) for a period of 3 hours at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. Times are dependent on the season and we do have some clinics with special hours. The veterinarian leaves promptly at the end time for the clinic. Depending on the length of the line, Animal Care & Control may conclude the line at an appropriate time to ensure all individuals remaining in line receive the services.

      Please note clinics are weather permitting and may be canceled for high temperatures, low temperatures, precipitation, air quality or any other factors that may increase risks to citizens or animals at the outdoor clinic.

      A few things to note:
      • Clinic attendees MUST BE Anne Arundel County County Residents
      • Attendees MUST be wearing a mask over their mouth & nose to enter the building. We encourage mask wearing even outside in line.
      • All dogs MUST BE ON A LEASH
      • All cats MUST BE IN A CARRIER
      • License renewals must be mailed in or taken into the lobby of Animal Care & Control (masks must be worn if entering a County building)
      • Rabies Vaccination cost is $5.00
      • Microchip Implantation is $20.00

    • Field Work Fridays Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details: Kick off the weekend with the great feeling that comes with doing good and important work! Join our Field Work Fridays at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. Every Friday rain or shine, volunteers join staff naturalists to tackle a stewardship project in need of support. Projects include invasive plant removals, trash clean-ups, gardening, citizen science monitoring, and more. Volunteers are welcome to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy after our work is completed. No prior training or experience is necessary to join our Field Work Fridays! Free. Ages 8 and up, minors must be accompanied by a guardian.
