    • Ethics Commission Contingent Meeting (only if called) Time: 4:00p - 5:00p Location: 2666 Riva Road Annapolis, MD 21401 Details:

      The Ethics Commission is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in the commission’s office, unless rescheduled by the commission.  The commission will also have a contingent meeting scheduled for the third Monday of each month. The open portion of the meeting is usually quite brief, about 5-15 minutes.  Visitors are welcome to attend the open portion of the meeting.  If a person would like to bring a matter to the commission's attention or otherwise be heard during either the open or closed portion of the meeting, that person must notify the commission at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, providing that person's name and contact information. The commission has the discretion to permit a person to address the commission during a meeting, and may limit the time for the remarks of any speaker. The commission will not respond to questions or comments during a meeting, but upon request, will respond in writing to any speaker within a reasonable time after the meeting.

    • Wayne Schaumburg Time: 10:00a - 12:00p Location: Pasadena Senior Activity Center 4103 Mountain Road Pasadena, MD 21122 Details: Join Baltimore historian and educator Wayne R. Schaumburg on Tuesday, February 19 at 10am as we celebrate the 115th anniversary of The Great Baltimore Fire through a program entitled “A Hot Time In the Old Town!” Beginning Sunday morning, February 7th, 1904, the blaze lasted over 30 hours and destroyed almost 80% of the central business district. By the time it was brought under control, the fire had burned 140 acres, 1,546 buildings that closed over 2,500 companies. Over 30,000 Baltimoreans were put out of work and the damage estimates ranged from 110 to 125 million dollars. The illustrated program will look at the suspected cause of the fire, the path of the fire itself, the damage and the rebuilding of downtown Baltimore within 3 years. Space is limited.     • Plumbing Commission Meeting Time: 8:30a - 9:00a Location: 2664 Riva Road, 1st Floor Conference Room, Annapolis, MD. Details: Advisory body to County Council on rules and regulations designed to govern the conduct of plumbing and utility professionals.  Advises and assists the Director of Inspections and Permits in the adoption of rules and regulations, approval of materials, and interpretations of Title 4, and makes recommendations for revisions of this title.
       
       
    • Sawmill Workshop Time: 9:00a - 12:00p Location: Kinder Farm Park Details:

      Weather permitting, Kinder Farm Park's very own Sawmill Club will be running logs through the mill. Wood milled from the sawmill can be seen around Kinder Farm park, including inside the Tobacco Barn Museum and Visitor Center.

      Antique Equipment and Sawmill Club’s mission is the restoration and display of the park’s antique farm equipment, tractors and sawmill. Our goal is to offer presentations and displays of antique farm tools and equipment so that those participating can experience farm life in historical Anne Arundel County. The lumber from the sawmill is used in many of the small barns and other structures in the park.

    • Weekly Rabies & Microchip Clinic Time: 12:00p - 3:00p Location: 411 Maxwell Frye Road Millersville, MD 21108 Details:

      Low cost rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations are available every Thursday (except holidays) for a period of 3 hours at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. Times are dependent on the season and we do have some clinics with special hours.  The veterinarian leaves promptly at the end time for the clinic. Depending on the length of the line, Animal Care & Control may conclude the line at an appropriate time to ensure all individuals remaining in line receive the services.  
        

      Please note clinics are weather permitting and may be canceled for high temperatures, low temperatures, precipitation, air quality or any other factors that may increase risks to citizens or animals at the outdoor clinic. 
        

      Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.

    • How to Tell Your Story Out Loud to an Audience Time: 1:00p - 3:00p Location: South County Senior Activity Center 27 Stepneys Lane Edgewater, MD 21037 Details: Here is your chance to get on stage and tell us something from your heart. Everyone, including you, has a story to tell. When it is real and personal and from your own experience, these stories can be compelling and universally appealing. This four-part class focuses on the written word, your own story, and how to then confidently and effectively Present with Power and Poise in Public. Please join us whether you are looking to build confidence and tune your skills or are a polished public speaker. Participants should bring a draft story of up to three pages to the first class, attend the three classes, edit and fine-tune their speech to share with the class and then present their four-to -seven minute Edgewater Talk “EDTalk” at the senior center on a future date in March. Your facilitator, Paul Foer, has presented to audiences in over 20 states and is a Bronze level Toastmaster. He holds an MA in journalism, was a radio show host, wrote over 150 columns for The Capital newspaper and hundreds of articles and stories in other publications. He thinks that public speaking is fun, and hopes you will agree.

      Each Saturday, learn from a noted scholar about the African American experience in the Chesapeake region. Speakers include:

      February 16- Historical Character Interpretation: Connecting the Dots 
      Brenda Parker will show how to create a more complete "story" of African American people in the past using whatever resources are available.​​

      Janice Hayes-Williams is an expert on African American history in the Annapolis area, and is currently with the Office of the County Executive in Consituent Services & Community Engagement.​
