    • AARP Tax Aide Program Time: All Day Locations: Pasadena Senior Activity Center 4103 Mountain Road Pasadena, MD 21122 Details: For individuals who have registered for the AARP Tax-Aide program at the Pasadena Senior Activity Center, appointments will begin today. Please be sure to check your registration packets for the date and time of your appointment. Please note that snow make-up days will be held April 6th through April 15th. This program assists people with preparing and filing both Federal and State, as well as, helping individuals to claim Homeowners or Renters Tax Credit. Volunteers are certified by the Internal Revenue Service and will help only with simple tax returns which are filed electronically. Volunteers do not do tax returns involving partnerships, corporations, some selfemployed persons or rental properties. Appointments fill up quickly so call or stop at the front desk for more information.

    • Randazzo Park Athletic Fields Phase 2 Public Meeting Time: 7:00pm - 8:30pm Locations: Quarterfield Elementary School 7967 Quarterfield Rd, Severn, MD 21144 Details:

      A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., at Quarterfield Elementary School Multipurpose Room to present the proposed construction and design plan to reconfigure the athletic fields and expansion of the parking area at Randazzo Park.

      The work is expected to be complete in September 2020.

      The park, and playground within its limits, will be closed to the public during construction.

      Construction is anticipated to take place Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

      The roadway entering the park will be closed.

      DPW officials will present information on the proposed construction, and will also answer questions from those in attendance.

      In the case of school closure or inclement weather the public meeting will be rescheduled.

      Notice Regarding Rabies Clinics

      Rabies clinics at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control resumed beginning Thursday May 14, 2020. Effective Thursday June 11, 2020 Animal Care & Control will be resuming microchip implantations. The procedures have been modified to comply with social distancing, restrictions on gatherings and to ensure the health well being of citizens and Animal Care & Control team members/contractors as best we can. We have been adjusting the clinic each week to find the most effective and efficient ways of providing the services and we will continue to review in an attempt to improve the process. We continue to ask for your patience as we work out the kinks of this new process.

      Animal Care & Control will be pre-scheduling the services by appointment. Go to https://www.aacounty.org/departments/animal-control/rabies-clinic-scheduling/index.html to request an appointment. We apologize but the number of citizens/animals serviced will be limited however we believe the number of appointments available is commensurate with the current need.

      A few things to note:
      • Clinic attendees MUST BE Anne Arundel County County Residents and are limited to bringing two (2) pets per appointment.
      • Attendees WILL NOT be allowed inside Animal Care & Control as the building is CLOSED to the public
      • Attendees MUST remain in their vehicle unless/until instructed otherwise by our team member
      • Attendees MUST be wearing a mask over their mouth & nose (even when 6 feet or greater from our team members)
      • All dogs MUST BE ON A 6 FOOT LEASH (attendees will be given instructions on how to transfer the animal to our team member while ensuring social distancing)
      • All cats MUST BE IN A CARRIER (attendees will be given instructions on how to transfer the animal to our team member while ensuring social distancing)
      • Attendees MUST remain at least 6 feet from our team members and MAY NOT linger outside their vehicle.
      • Animal Care & Control WILL NOT be offering these services (for the time being) for animals that require a muzzle or “do best” when handled by their owner for safety reasons. Please contact your regular full service veterinarian for assistance.
      • Attendees will be providing ALL necessary information regarding themselves, their animal and identifying information about their vehicle when the appointment is made.
      • Payment will be made OVER THE PHONE and proof of ID must be provided when we call to provide your appointment time. An AACACC team member will call you to obtain payment and provide your appointment time between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
      • If you are not here on the correct date and at the time of your appointment you will be rescheduled for another date/time
      • License renewals must be mailed in
      • Rabies Vaccination cost is $5.00.
      • Microchip Implantation is $20.00
       

      Low cost rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations are available on specific Thursdays (except holidays) for a period of 3 hours at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. Times are dependent on the season and we do have some clinics with special hours.  The veterinarian leaves promptly at the end time for the clinic. Depending on the length of the line, Animal Care & Control may conclude the line at an appropriate time to ensure all individuals remaining in line receive the services.  
        

      Please note clinics are weather permitting and may be canceled for high temperatures, low temperatures, precipitation, air quality or any other factors that may increase risks to citizens or animals at the outdoor clinic. 
        

      Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.

You’ll also learn how to use the various stitches on the machine, about the different types of fabrics and the sewing machine adjustments for them, and learn how to create a project by using a pattern. At the end of the workshop, participants will have learned some new crafting skills and had some fun with friends, and Happy Hats will have a few wigs to donate to pediatric patients in the area. Take a look at the chemistry of chocolate and a summary of the research on health effects of chocolate consumption.     • Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Screening Time: 10:00am - 11:30am Locations: Brooklyn Park Senior Activity Center 202 Hammonds Lane Brooklyn Park, MD 21225 Details: PAD is a condition in which the arteries supplying blood to the legs become narrow or clogged with plaque, constricting the flow of blood. This can lead to cramping, pain in the feet and legs, cold feet, discolored skin, and if left untreated, ulcerations, gangrene, and amputation. People with diabetes and a history of smoking are most at risk of developing peripheral artery disease. Staff from Podiatry Associates will visit the center to give a brief presentation about the disease and hold screenings afterwards. Held on Tuesday, February 11th from 10:00- 11:30. Screenings are free, non-invasive and take about 3-5 minutes. Please wear shoes and socks that can easily be taken off. Sign up is not required.

      Rabies clinics at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control resumed beginning Thursday May 14, 2020. Effective Thursday June 11, 2020 Animal Care & Control will be resuming microchip implantations. The procedures have been modified to comply with social distancing, restrictions on gatherings and to ensure the health well being of citizens and Animal Care & Control team members/contractors as best we can. We have been adjusting the clinic each week to find the most effective and efficient ways of providing the services and we will continue to review in an attempt to improve the process. We continue to ask for your patience as we work out the kinks of this new process.

      Animal Care & Control will be pre-scheduling the services by appointment. We apologize but the number of citizens/animals serviced will be limited however we believe the number of appointments available is commensurate with the current need.

      A few things to note:

      • Attendees WILL NOT be allowed inside Animal Care & Control as the building is CLOSED to the public

      Low cost rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations are available on specific Thursdays (except holidays) for a period of 3 hours at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. Times are dependent on the season and we do have some clinics with special hours.  The veterinarian leaves promptly at the end time for the clinic. Depending on the length of the line, Animal Care & Control may conclude the line at an appropriate time to ensure all individuals remaining in line receive the services.  
        

      Please note clinics are weather permitting and may be canceled for high temperatures, low temperatures, precipitation, air quality or any other factors that may increase risks to citizens or animals at the outdoor clinic. 
        

      Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.

      The nearly 13,000 square-foot-facility will hold a kid’s preview day on Monday, February 17 and host a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, February 18 at 11:30 am. Discoveries: The Library at the Mall will open in the former Charlotte Russe and American Eagle stores near Crate and Barrel. 

      Originally launched as a pilot program, Discoveries: The Library at the Mall has proven an extremely successful location. The branch boasts the highest program attendance among all 16 libraries and has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors since its opening on April 30, 2018. The current location will close on February 10. 

      The new branch will feature expanded children and adult areas, Club 1117 teen space, a separate room for library programs, business services and more books, movies and computers.     

      The new location will feature the same hours as the current location serving customers Monday-Thursday from 10 am to 9 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays (September-May) from 1-5 pm.

      Notice Regarding Rabies Clinics

      Rabies clinics at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control resumed beginning Thursday May 14, 2020. Effective Thursday June 11, 2020 Animal Care & Control will be resuming microchip implantations. The procedures have been modified to comply with social distancing, restrictions on gatherings and to ensure the health well being of citizens and Animal Care & Control team members/contractors as best we can. We have been adjusting the clinic each week to find the most effective and efficient ways of providing the services and we will continue to review in an attempt to improve the process. We continue to ask for your patience as we work out the kinks of this new process.

      Animal Care & Control will be pre-scheduling the services by appointment. Go to https://www.aacounty.org/departments/animal-control/rabies-clinic-scheduling/index.html to request an appointment. We apologize but the number of citizens/animals serviced will be limited however we believe the number of appointments available is commensurate with the current need.

      A few things to note:
      • Clinic attendees MUST BE Anne Arundel County County Residents and are limited to bringing two (2) pets per appointment.
      • Attendees WILL NOT be allowed inside Animal Care & Control as the building is CLOSED to the public
      • Attendees MUST remain in their vehicle unless/until instructed otherwise by our team member
      • Attendees MUST be wearing a mask over their mouth & nose (even when 6 feet or greater from our team members)
      • All dogs MUST BE ON A 6 FOOT LEASH (attendees will be given instructions on how to transfer the animal to our team member while ensuring social distancing)
      • All cats MUST BE IN A CARRIER (attendees will be given instructions on how to transfer the animal to our team member while ensuring social distancing)
      • Attendees MUST remain at least 6 feet from our team members and MAY NOT linger outside their vehicle.
      • Animal Care & Control WILL NOT be offering these services (for the time being) for animals that require a muzzle or “do best” when handled by their owner for safety reasons. Please contact your regular full service veterinarian for assistance.
      • Attendees will be providing ALL necessary information regarding themselves, their animal and identifying information about their vehicle when the appointment is made.
      • Payment will be made OVER THE PHONE and proof of ID must be provided when we call to provide your appointment time. An AACACC team member will call you to obtain payment and provide your appointment time between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
