Low cost rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations are available on specific Thursdays (except holidays) for a period of 3 hours at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. Times are dependent on the season and we do have some clinics with special hours. The veterinarian leaves promptly at the end time for the clinic. Depending on the length of the line, Animal Care & Control may conclude the line at an appropriate time to ensure all individuals remaining in line receive the services.
Please note clinics are weather permitting and may be canceled for high temperatures, low temperatures, precipitation, air quality or any other factors that may increase risks to citizens or animals at the outdoor clinic.

Attendees MUST be wearing a mask over their mouth & nose to enter the building. We encourage mask wearing even outside in line.

Join staff and volunteers on Wednesdays 9 am - 12 noon at the Emory Waters Nature Preserve to work in our pollinator gardens. To beat the heat we will meet 8-11 am June 21-Sept 15. See Jug Bay’s newest property and learn about native perennials that support our native butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Volunteers will weed, mulch, prune, and plant to revive, maintain, and build pollinator gardens. Meet new friends and enjoy interesting conversations. Bring gardening gloves, your favorite tools, and plenty of drinking water. Current health guidelines will be enforced. Ages: 12 and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult. Free. Walk-ins welcome! The Department of Recreation and Parks will host two virtual Town Hall meetings to present the draft 2022 Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan (LPPRP) and receive citizen comments. The Plan evaluates the demand for parklands and recreational facilities based on need, proximity, and equity and outlines goals and priorities for the next five, ten, and fifteen years.
The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, February 15, and Thursday, February 24, both at 6:30 pm. Please register to join us via Zoom using links below. Residents in attendance will be given two minutes each to share public testimony about the draft LPPRP and the future of our parks and recreation system. Details:Kick off the weekend with the great feeling that comes with doing good and important work! Join our Field Work Fridays at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. Every Friday rain or shine, volunteers join staff naturalists to tackle a stewardship project in need of support. Projects include invasive plant removals, trash clean-ups, gardening, citizen science monitoring, and more. Volunteers are welcome to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy after our work is completed. No prior training or experience is necessary to join our Field Work Fridays! Free. Ages 8 and up, minors must be accompanied by a guardian. Details:Create a beautiful egg in the time-honored Ukrainian tradition of Pysanky, or create a symbolic piece of art to invoke a new world vision. This workshop will explore the art in a free form, using symbolism that tells a specific story and holds a deliberate intention. Each participant will receive a Pysanky kit containing the basic tools and materials required for the class. Instructor Coreen Weilminster has been making Pysanky for over 20 years. Participants must bring an empty egg carton to transport their piece home safely and a bag lunch/ snack. Pre-registration and payment is required by February 10th to purchase kits. No refunds after February 10th. Ages: 12 and up. Maximum of 15 participants. Fee: $35/person, includes materials and Pysanky kit to keep.
