    • Census 2020 Job Fair Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm Locations: Arnold Senior Activity Center 44 Church Road Arnold, MD 21012 Details: A representative from the 2020 Census will have a table with information on the 2020 Census and how to be hired as a Census Taker for those who are interested.     • Estate Planning Seminar Time: 10:00am - 11:30am Locations: Arnold Senior Activity Center 44 Church Road Arnold, MD 21012 Details: “Do you have a Will? Does your Will need to be updated? Have you thought about whether you need a Trust? Maria Worthington McKenna, an attorney from the Council Baradel law firm in Annapolis, will present on estate planning, including a discussion of the difference between having a Will versus a Trust, Powers of Attorney and Medical Directives.
       
       
    • Happy Hats Wig Workshop Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm Locations: South County Senior Activity Center 27 Stepneys Lane Edgewater, MD 21037 Details: Happy Hats Maryland is a charity project that provides yarn wigs and character hats to pediatric oncology patients. Kay Alston from Happy Hats will lead this workshop to assemble the wigs from other materials that are made ahead of time. All materials and supplies will be provided. No skills are required. At the end of the workshop, participants will have learned some new crafting skills and had some fun with friends, and Happy Hats will have a few wigs to donate to pediatric patients in the area. All of the hats that are made are for donation, not to be taken home. Sign up at the front desk.

    • Thinking Inside the Box: Research & Confessions of a Chocoholic Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Arnold Senior Activity Center 44 Church Road Arnold, MD 21012 Details: Does chocolate really have health benefits or is it all just wishful thinking? Take a look at the chemistry of chocolate and a summary of the research on health effects of chocolate consumption. You will also learn about varieties of cacao and the steps involved in the processing of chocolate. You are invited to take part in a chocolate taste receptor sensitivity survey, and through it all, you will gain some insight into the mind of a chocoholic! Presented by Carol Veil, Professor Emeritus, Biology, Anne Arundel Community College. Afterwards, enjoy a diverse selection of chocolate treats!
       
       
    • Friends of Hancock's Resolution Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Pasadena Senior Activity Center 4103 Mountain Road Pasadena, MD 21122 Details: Join us as representatives from Hancock's Resolution will be here to give a historical talk about the property located in Anne Arundel County and discuss what you can do for this historical site as a potential volunteer.

    • Van Trip: Golden Corral Time: 11:15am - 1:30pm Locations: South County Senior Activity Center 27 Stepneys Lane Edgewater, MD 21037 Details: A van will take center members to Golden Corral in Glen Burnie. Space on the van is limited. Trip is subject to cancellation depending on availability of transportation. A $5.00 reservation fee is due at sign up to reserve your spot on the van. The reservation fee will be refunded on the day of the trip to participants who attend. Money will be forfeited for all cancellations and no-shows. Sign up by Monday, February 3.

    • Introduction to Zentangle Workshop Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm Locations: Pascal Senior Activity Center 125 Dorsey Road Glen Burnie, MD 21061 Details: Zentangle® is an elegantly simple drawing technique, inspiring creativity and mindfulness. No previous art experience is needed to learn the basic steps of Zentangle, Through the exploration of patterns, taught one step at a time, create non-directional, non-representational works of art. This is a great art form for artists and novices alike! This workshop will be on Monday, February 10th from 1- 3pm. Taught by Julie Allison, Certified Zentangle Teacher. Space is limited, please sign up early This class will require a $10.00 supply fee, to be paid at the time of sign up. Cash will be accepted.
       
       
    • Ethics Commission Meeting(Cancelled) Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm Locations: 2666 Riva Road Annapolis, MD 21401 Details:

      The Ethics Commission is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in the commission’s office, unless rescheduled by the commission.  The commission will also have a contingent meeting scheduled for the third Monday of each month. The open portion of the meeting is usually quite brief, about 5-15 minutes.  Visitors are welcome to attend the open portion of the meeting.  If a person would like to bring a matter to the commission's attention or otherwise be heard during either the open or closed portion of the meeting, that person must notify the commission at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, providing that person's name and contact information. The commission has the discretion to permit a person to address the commission during a meeting, and may limit the time for the remarks of any speaker. The commission will not respond to questions or comments during a meeting, but upon request, will respond in writing to any speaker within a reasonable time after the meeting.
