      Annapolis, Md County Executive Steuart Pittman, Mayor Gavin Buckley, local elected officials, and community leaders will gather to officially designate the City of Annapolis as a Site of Memory recognized by the United Nations Science Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Middle Passage Ceremonies, and Port Markers Project. The ceremony will include local history of Annapolis’ role in the transatlantic human trade and the unveiling of the Port Marker that will be installed at City Dock.

    • Rabies & Microchip Clinic Time: 12:00pm - 3:00pm Locations: 411 Maxwell Frye Road Millersville, MD 21108 Details: Low cost rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations are available on specific Thursdays (except holidays) for a period of 3 hours at Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control. Times are dependent on the season and we do have some clinics with special hours. The veterinarian leaves promptly at the end time for the clinic. Depending on the length of the line, Animal Care & Control may conclude the line at an appropriate time to ensure all individuals remaining in line receive the services.

      Please note clinics are weather permitting and may be canceled for high temperatures, low temperatures, precipitation, air quality or any other factors that may increase risks to citizens or animals at the outdoor clinic.

      A few things to note:
      • Clinic attendees MUST BE Anne Arundel County County Residents
      • Attendees MUST be wearing a mask over their mouth & nose to enter the building. We encourage mask wearing even outside in line.
      • All dogs MUST BE ON A LEASH
      • All cats MUST BE IN A CARRIER
      • License renewals must be mailed in or taken into the lobby of Animal Care & Control (masks must be worn if entering a County building)
      • Rabies Vaccination cost is $5.00

      Upon the academy receiving the background check, the applicant will get an email confirmation, that confirmation and a RETIRED COUNTY POLICE ID must be brought to the academy for admission to LEOSA.  If you do not have a retired AACO Identification Card, please contact the Police Technology Section at (410) 222-3021 for further details on how to acquire one.

      The Ethics Commission is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in the commission’s office, unless rescheduled by the commission.  The commission will also have a contingent meeting scheduled for the third Monday of each month. The open portion of the meeting is usually quite brief, about 5-15 minutes.  Visitors are welcome to attend the open portion of the meeting.  If a person would like to bring a matter to the commission's attention or otherwise be heard during either the open or closed portion of the meeting, that person must notify the commission at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, providing that person's name and contact information. The commission has the discretion to permit a person to address the commission during a meeting, and may limit the time for the remarks of any speaker.     • Reconstructing East Baltimore’s “Reservation” with Dr. Ashley Minner Time: 7:00pm - 8:00pm Locations: Zoom Details:

      In the mid-twentieth century, thousands of Lumbee Indians and members of other tribal nations migrated to Baltimore City, which they affectionately referred to as their "reservation." In collaboration with her elders, Ashley Minner has been mining archives to reconstruct this "reservation."

      A public meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Broadneck High School, 1265 Green Holly Drive, Annapolis, MD 21409.


      During the meeting, DPW will discuss the need for a land use conversion of the parcel of land adjacent to the Cape St. Claire Fire Station, located at 1411 Cape St. Claire Road. The land use conversion is part of the plan to replace the Cape St. Claire Fire Station in upcoming years to give it more room. During this project, the Cape St. Claire Park’s parking lot, which is on the conversion land, will be replaced with a 24-vehicle paved lot.

      We welcome your input on the project description, project needs, right-of-way impacts, tree impacts, environmental permitting impacts and project schedule.

    • Parole Transportation Center Public Meeting Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm Locations: Discoveries: The Library At The Mall Details:

      A public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Discoveries: Library at the Mall, located near the Crate & Barrel store. 

       

      During the meeting, DPW will discuss the planned project to build a multi-modal public transportation center at Westfield Mall in Annapolis. Transit buses will provide ease of access to residents as well as employees of the mall and nearby businesses. Improvements are also planned to accommodate pedestrians, bicycle traffic and parking, and additional vehicle parking. The project will take place at the Southeast comer of the intersection of Bestgate Road and Generals Highway, on the Westfield Mall property. 
       

      DPW will address the overall project description, the needs and benefits, environmental impacts, utility relocations, project schedule, and construction impacts including road closure/detours and work hours.

    • Ethics Commission Contingent Meeting (only if called) Time: 4:00pm - 5:00pm Locations: 2666 Riva Road Annapolis, MD 21401 Details:

      The Ethics Commission is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in the commission’s office, unless rescheduled by the commission.  The commission will also have a contingent meeting scheduled for the third Monday of each month. The open portion of the meeting is usually quite brief, about 5-15 minutes.  Visitors are welcome to attend the open portion of the meeting.  If a person would like to bring a matter to the commission's attention or otherwise be heard during either the open or closed portion of the meeting, that person must notify the commission at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, providing that person's name and contact information. The commission has the discretion to permit a person to address the commission during a meeting, and may limit the time for the remarks of any speaker.       Join us for a fun 5K run along our beautiful, scenic trails of the Jug Bay River Farm property. Registration starts at 8:30 am. The run will start promptly at 9:00 am. The trail is all off-road with some single track areas. Run times are not recorded. Hot cider and a light snack will be provided after the run.

      During the meeting, DPW will discuss a planning study to address mobility challenges through improved
      transportation infrastructure and services in and adjacent to the Brooklyn Park neighborhood. The primary
      objective is to identify and prioritize planning-level transportation system improvements that address community
      mobility needs for residents and stakeholders to reach key services, focusing primarily on walking, bicycling, and
      transit service. The final product will be a community mobility plan that will include maps, concept drawings,
      and planning-level cost estimates. The recommended alternatives will incorporate input from local residents,
      property owners, workers, and other key stakeholders.
