Happy Hats Maryland Wig Workshop
Happy Hats Maryland was started by Kay Alston, a retiree from the State of Maryland Judiciary, who wanted to help make children a little happier with her whimsical hats. The ultimate goal of Happy Hats Maryland is to make whimsical yarn
wigs and hats for pediatric cancer patients in the Mid- Atlantic region, with the emphasis on Maryland. This workshop is for anyone who would like to lend a hand in making the wigs. All materials and supplies are provided, and Kay will teach participants, working in pairs, how to assemble and style the hair. It typically takes 2-3 hours to assemble and style each wig. Come and have fun while helping to put a smile on a child’s face! Light refreshments will be served. Workshop is limited to the first 16 people that sign up. * If you are not able to attend the workshop, but would like to contribute to the cause, Kay gladly welcomes donations of soft brands of yarn like Caron Simply Soft or Red Heart Soft in primary colors, brown, red, white, and yellow are used so as not to irritate sensitive scalps.
