    Car top Launch Open: Sunrise to Sunset

    Cartop Boat Launch
    • The launch is located on the South River in Anne Arundel County, Maryland
    • Car top Launch 2 is available seven days a week from sunrise to sunset except for public open swim days and during Adaptive Camp Hours. See below for more details. It has grass parking. Approximately 20 parking spaces are available at car top launch 2. Parking surface is a mixture of grass and sand. If it is raining or muddy, use the regular gravel parking lot at the top of the hill.
    • Car top Launch 3 is available for use on public open swim days (Weekends: Memorial Day – September). It has gravel parking in the main parking area of the park. Parking on Sundays is limited and sometimes the park will reach capacity and temporarily close on these days. Arrive early.
    • Those accessing the car top launch may not picnic, swim, or hangout in the park during non-public open swim days. A boat/water craft of some sort must accompany the vehicle with the intention of launching that day.
    • Port-a-potties are available for use.

    Important Summer Notice

    During the summer months Mayo Beach Park can reach capacity on weekends between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Plan smart and arrive early or later in the day. Arrive together with all people of your party. If the park is at capacity no more people will be allowed inside even if part of your party has already arrived.

  • Gate Access Request Form

    There is a a combination lock at the Mayo Beach Park gate entrance. Access to the park is limited due to site conditions and capacity. Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks reserves the right to close the park or restrict access for operational, maintenance, or safety reasons. The gate must be secured immediately upon entering and leaving the park.

    Complete the online form for the combination lock numbers. The combination lock numbers will automatically appear once the submit form button is selected.

    • Park open from 7:00 am to Dusk
    • No Swimming, Camping, or Trailers
    • No Alcohol, Fires, or Overnight Parking

    All Trash must be taken with you or placed in trash receptacles, if available. 

Map & Directions

From Annapolis, take Route 2 (Solomon’s Island Road) south (4.5 miles) to Route 214 (Central Ave.). Take Route 214 East (4.4 miles) and turn left on Shoreham Beach Road at Lou’s Store. Stay on Shoreham Beach Road (1 mile) through sharp turns (3 Mayo Beach signs) to Honeysuckle Drive. Turn onto Honeysuckle Drive (sharp right) and follow into the Park.
