Project Description

Working in partnership with the Resilience Authority of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, this project is an assessment of the park shorelines along the South River, Harness Creek, and Loden Pond to identifiy and prioritize areas in most need of restoration to enhance the user experience, better manage stormwater runoff and build the park’s resilience to erosion, sea level rise and other climate-related impacts. The assessment and project prioritization focuses on coastal restoration projects that dissipate wave energy, stabilize the existing shoreline and create and enhance a mosaic of estuarine habitats, including tidal marsh, upland wetland, beach strand, and submerged aquatic vegetation habitat. The benefits of this project willl be to reduce the erosion rate, protect shallow water habitat, and protect Quiet Waters Park infrastructure.
