What is a triangle?
Triangle: a geometric shape that has exactly three straight sides and three vertices.
For Severna Park residents, a triangle means an unpleasant traffic snarl that causes delays and safety concerns. If you work or travel near Riggs Ave., Evergreen Rd., and MD648, you have probably experienced it too.
This traffic triangle dilemma desperately needs solutions for pedestrians, bikers and vehicles.
This infrastructure polygon is finally getting the attention it deserves after delays from COVID, and aligning project timing challenges with the state. The support of neighborhood partners at the Severn School and local businesses helping to bring this to the forefront again has been critical. Community representatives stepping forward to be part of this process will help make it successful!
I was happy to support the funding for this first important step in the FY27 budget, because it is long overdue. Now that the budget is in effect, the first stakeholder meeting kicked off July 1 for the “Severna Park Triangle Safety and Operational Study”.
The work has just begun. I'm excited to tackle this challenge together!
