Saturday's clean-up at the Crownsville Patient Cemetery has been rescheduled due to weather, and it will take place at the "Say My Name" event on April 29.
See April 29th Calendar Listing"Say it loud! Say it clear! Does anybody know I'm here? Say My Name!
Please join County Historian Janice Hayes-Williams with Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks during this Maryland Day weekend with an act of conservation and preservation by participating in cleaning up Crownsville Hospital Patient Cemetery. This clean-up effort will consist of picking up leaves and fallen tree debris from the passing seasons.
Be prepared and bring sunscreen, gloves, rakes and lawn bags.
Crownsville Hospital Patient Cemetery can be accessed by taking Marbury Drive off of Crownsville Road near the Crownsville Hospital campus. Then follow Farm Road and signs directing visitors to parking and the cemetery location.
There will be a special "Say My Name" Ceremony to conclude the clean-up effort. "Say My Name" honors the memory of over 1,700 African American patients who died at the Crownsville Hospital Center during it's operation from 1910 to 2004.
