    • Blacksmith Shop Workday Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm Locations: Kinder Farm Park Details: Stop by the Kinder Farm Park Blacksmith Shop and watch the Chesapeake Forge Blacksmith Guild members forging metal, using various tools. Stand on the sidelines and view a trade that is over 100 years old but still very much alive today at Kinder Farm Park. The Blacksmith Shop is open on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Monday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    • Preschool Explorers! Time: 10:00am - 11:30am Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details: Bring the little ones to explore nature! Learn about a nature topic and then head out to experience the Sanctuary. We look, feel, listen, and discover at preschooler speed. Dress for the weather – we will always try to go outside! Parents play along with their children. Ages: 3-5. Fee: $6 per child, payable at program. Register the child or children only.     • Pollinator Wednesday Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details:

      Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary - Emory Waters Nature Preserve

      Join staff and volunteers on Wednesdays 9 am - 12 noon at the Emory Waters Nature Preserve to work in our pollinator gardens. To beat the heat we will meet 8-11 am June 21-Sept 15. See Jug Bay’s newest property and learn about native perennials that support our native butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Volunteers will weed, mulch, prune, and plant to revive, maintain, and build pollinator gardens. Meet new friends and enjoy interesting conversations. Bring gardening gloves, your favorite tools, and plenty of drinking water. Current health guidelines will be enforced. Ages: 12 and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult. Free. Walk-ins welcome!     • Park Fit Time: 9:30am - 10:30am Locations: South River Farm Park Details:

      Come join a ranger for this 4 week fitness series, held every Wednesday at 9:30am to 10:30am. We will get fit together while enjoying the great outdoors. Each week we will hike the trails and do a different HITT or yoga routine! Bring a towel/ yoga mat, water, and wear comfy, weather appropriate clothing and shoes.     • Homeschool Program: Hearth Fire Time: 10:00am - 11:30am Locations: Historic London Town and Gardens Details:

      Gather around a crackling fire as we explore the sights, sounds, and smells of wintertime in London Town. Watch as light dances across the room from your very own punched tin design and listen to the fire hiss, snap, and pop, while you create a scrumptious colonial treat. $8 for member children, ages 6 – 12, or $10 for non-member children, ages 6 – 12. Pre-registration is required.

      PLEASE NOTE: This occurs from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM or from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.

    • Animal Ambassador Series – Raptors Birds of Prey Time: 2:30pm - 3:30pm Locations: 1001 Kinder Farm Park Road Millersville, MD 21108 Details:

      Have you ever wanted to meet a live Owl, Hawk or Eagle up close???

      Here’s your chance!!

      Join Park Ranger Jessica Furr and local rehabilitator educators to share the love of wildlife and learn interesting fun facts about the lives of Birds of Prey. Help spread the word about the essential role that birds play in a healthy ecosystem. Learn about the importance of these animals, habitats, behaviors and ways to help them. Best of all, this program gives you the opportunity to meet and interact with one or more of the Animal Ambassadors.

      Each of the four Animal Ambassador Program series will have a different animal species group to meet. Registration is necessary. Gate fees apply. Appropriate for all ages. Non-flash photography welcome. 1 hour duration. At Kinder Farm Park on November 11, 2021 2:30pm at the River Birch Pavilion. Sessions will be limited to 25 people.     • Field Work Fridays Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details: Kick off the weekend with the great feeling that comes with doing good and important work! Join our Field Work Fridays at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. Every Friday rain or shine, volunteers join staff naturalists to tackle a stewardship project in need of support. Projects include invasive plant removals, trash clean-ups, gardening, citizen science monitoring, and more. Volunteers are welcome to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy after our work is completed. No prior training or experience is necessary to join our Field Work Fridays! Free. Ages 8 and up, minors must be accompanied by a guardian.     • Campfire Chat Series @ Lake Waterford Park Time: 6:30pm - 7:00pm Locations: Lake Waterford Park Details:

      Theme: Conservation in the Chesapeake Watershed

      Please join Dr. Sally Hornor (Magothy River Association) and Watershed Steward Meghan Petenbrink as we discuss the biggest challenges facing the Bay's health and highlight everyday changes we can implement to conserve and protect this invaluable resource.

      Gather around a campfire at one of your favorite parks this fall for a series of engaging and informative
      chats. Each week Park Rangers and local experts will lead discussions on a different theme, exploring topics about wildlife, conservation, history, survival skills, folklore and more. Bring a portable camp chair and share s’mores and stories by the fire, or sit back, relax and enjoy the evening. A $5.00 registration fee covers program costs. Prepackaged s’mores supplies will be provided. Guest speakers and topics will be announced via social media.

    • Campfire Cooking 101 Time: All Day Locations: Fort Smallwood Park Details:

      Come Join Ranger Hughes at Ft. Smallwood Park for an evening of campfire cooking 101. We will learn how to start a fire and cook some yummy items. We will cook an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Vegetarian friendly. Cost: $5.00 ages youth (8 and up) Adults required.

    • Magnificent Marsh Mammals Time: 3:00pm - 5:00pm Locations: Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Details: What mammals inhabit our lovely marshes at Jug Bay? Find out, and perhaps see some in person on an evening hike through the woods and along the edge of the marsh. Join Chuck Hatcher, Jug Bay’s resident expert on otters, for a 1-3 mile walk. Look and listen for signs of activity while Chuck shares interesting facts about these magnificent marsh mammals. All ages. Free with $6 vehicle entrance fee.
