    • Rescheduled:Crownsville Hospital Clean-up & "Say My Name" Ceremony Time: 11:00am - 2:00pm Locations: Crownsville Hospital Patient Cemetery Details:

      Saturday's clean-up at the Crownsville Patient Cemetery has been rescheduled due to weather, and it will take place at the  "Say My Name" event on April 29.

      "Say it loud!  Say it clear!  Does anybody know I'm here?  Say My Name!

      Please join County Historian Janice Hayes-Williams with Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks during this Maryland Day weekend with an act of conservation and preservation by participating in cleaning up Crownsville Hospital Patient Cemetery.  This clean-up effort will consist of picking up leaves and fallen tree debris from the passing seasons.  

      Be prepared and bring sunscreenglovesrakes and lawn bags.

      Crownsville Hospital Patient Cemetery can be accessed by taking Marbury Drive off of Crownsville Road near the Crownsville Hospital campus.  Then follow Farm Road and signs directing visitors to parking and the cemetery location.

      There will be a special "Say My Name" Ceremony to conclude the clean-up effort.  "Say My Name" honors the memory of over 1,700 African American patients who died at the Crownsville Hospital Center during it's operation from 1910 to 2004.

    • Hancock Resolution’s Park Shoreline Protection Public Meeting Time: 6:00pm - 7:30pm Locations: Fort Smallwood Elementary School Details: Hancock Resolution’s Park Shoreline Protection Public Meeting Announcement

      A public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 6pm-7:30pm at the Fort Smallwood Elementary School Cafeteria, 1720 Poplar Ridge Rd, Pasadena.
        
      During the meeting, DPW will discuss plans for building a living shoreline at Hancock’s Resolution Park southwest of Bayside Beach Rd and Point Lookout Cove Rd. The shoreline will help to prevent further erosion. The project is currently under 30% design. We welcome your input on the project and the proposed schedule.
       
      Anyone needing accommodations must contact DPW Customer Relations at 410-222-7582 or by email at [email protected] at least seven days in advance of the event. TTY users please call via Maryland Relay 7-1-1. All materials are available in alternative formats upon request.

      Please join us for the Earth Day Clean Up event in Glen Burnie. We will meet in the Town Center plaza and will provide trash bags and instructions. There is FREE parking in the Glen Burnie Parking Garage at 7480 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd (entrance off Barbara Moeller Way.)

      Join the Park Rangers of Downs Park to celebrate Earth Day with a park cleanup! Gloves and trash bags will be provided, but please make sure to wear sturdy shoes. Participants should meet at the Visitor Center. Gate fees waived.

      Please join the Friends of the Crownsville Patient Cemetery and Recreation and Parks in attending the "Say My Name" Ceremony on Saturday, April 29th which honors the memory of over 1,700 African American patients who died at the Crownsville Hospital Center during it's operation from 1910 to 2004.  There will be two ceremonies to accommodate attendees.  11:00am and 12:00 noon

      The rescheduled April 1st Crownsville Cemetery Cleanup will also be taking place and we will need hands, all are welcome!     *Bring gloves, rakes and leaf bags*
