Brief Project Description

The South Shore Trail primarily utilizes the abandoned road bed of the WB& A Railroad between Annapolis and Odenton. The trail will connect with the Colonial Annapolis Maritime Trail on the east end and the WB & A Trail on the west. The trail will be a component of the East Coast Greenway and the American Discovery Trail. 
The South Shore Trail's multi-phase construction will consist of the following:
  • Phase I: Waterbury Road to MD Route 3 (1.97 mile)
  • Phase II: MD Route 3 to Odenton (2.07 mile)
  • Phase III: Bestgate Road to Eisenhower Golf Course (2.59 mile)
  • Phase IV: Eisenhower Golf Course to Waterbury Road (3.55 mile)
  • Phase V: Bestgate Road to City of Annapolis (3.37 mile)

Phase II:Construction grant kickoff meeting held January 2021.
Phase IV:Contract initiation February 2021.
Phase V:May be addressed via DPW/OOT Study to Connect Poplar Trail to South Shore Trail

Status of Other Phases

Phase III:Feasibility study conducted with phase IV. Design effort in future years and will connect to phase IV. 
MD 3 Crossing: Feasibility Study is complete. Design and construction is contingent upon future funding.
