Fishing at Lake Waterford Park
Shoreline fishing is permitted at Lake Waterford Park. Come enjoy the beauty of the lake while casting a line! Fishing in the park is regulated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. A Maryland Freshwater fishing license is required for fishing in non-tidal waters for all anglers 16 and older. A fishing license can be obtained at most local bait and tackle shops and local Walmart stores.
Fishing is prohibited in the protected wildlife area just south of the spillway - this is strictly enforced by park rangers.

Important Note: It is against Maryland and federal law to possess, import, or transport live northern snakehead. If you catch a snakehead in the lake and want to keep it, you must immediately kill the fish. Anglers are encouraged to catch and keep snakeheads year round.
