Thursday, June 18, 2020 – As we progress with Stage Two openings and with the support from County Executive, Steuart Pittman please see the the Department of Recreation and Parks updates on the continued opening of facilities and summer camps below.  We thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout the Pandemic.

CANCELLATIONS AND CLOSURES REMAINING IN EFFECT AS OF June 19, 2020

  • The visitor centers will remain closed at all Regional Parks (Quiet Waters, Downs, Fort Smallwood, Kinder Farm, Lake Waterford, B&A Trail and
    Jug Bay), and Recreation & Parks Community Parks.  
  • Arundel Olympic Swim Center and North Arundel Aquatic Center will be closed.  We are anticipating opening July 6, 2020 with modifications to be published.
  • North County and South County Recreation Centers will be closed until further notice.

OPENING AS OF 5:00 pm - FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 2020

The following will be opening all Regional Parks (Quiet Waters, Downs, Fort Smallwood, Kinder Farm, Lake Waterford, B&A Trail and
Jug Bay), and Recreation & Parks Community Parks,

  • Playgrounds
  • Restrooms  (Scheduled to open June 20, 2020)
  • Pavilions can be reserved at normal rates and will remain at normal capacity

AND as of Wednesday, June 17, 2020

  • Youth and Adult practice and game play resumed normal operations;
  • Players, parents and coaches should follow the social distancing guidelines whenever possible.

Fort Smallwood Park -  Boaters must follow current social distancing requirements.  The CDC recommended social distancing guidelines should be practiced at all times by the public while using the boat ramp facility. Please stay at least 6' apart while launching your vessel and while on the ramp's docks. All park and boat ramp rules and regulations are enforced. The boat ramp is open for launching from 5:30 AM until one hour prior to the posted park closing time. Please be prepared for intermittent boat ramp closures in anticipation of increased ramp usage.
