Bureau of Utility Operations

Each year, the Bureau produces, treats, and safely delivers nearly 13 billion gallons of public water to more than 110, 000 properties and collects and treats 12 billion gallons of wastewater from our 118,154 customers.

Utility Information

  • Water Distribution System
    The water supply system consists of 3 independent wells and 8 major water treatment plants which provide clean safe drinking water to more than 114,000 customers. The water treatment plants derive their supply from 55 production wells. The water system capacity of 66.5 million gallons per day (MGD) is adequate to meet the average daily demand.
  • Sewer Services
    The wastewater system is divided into ten service areas. The Bureau operates Water Reclamation Facilities in nine (9) of those areas and has ten connections with three other jurisdictions (Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and Howard County).

    The current capacity of the system is 47.6 MGD, which is adequate to meet the average daily demand.

If you have lost your bill, have moved, cannot afford to pay your bill all at one time or your bill seems out of line compared to previous bills, contact the Billing Office’s Customer Service Unit at (410) 222-1144.  You can also email Customer Service for assistance.  Thoroughly trained and experienced customer service representatives will be glad to assist you.
 
Payments may be made online, by mail or in person at one of the County's Cashier Offices.
