National Preparedness Month
Every year, the month of September is recognized as National Preparedness Month, to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. This year’s theme is “Prepare to Protect” because preparing for disasters helps protect the ones you love. You should include your whole family in the emergency planning process and take into consideration any special needs for pets, children, older adults, and those with access or functional needs.
50% more disasters are declared each year and as the frequency of severe storms increases, we encourage everyone to be prepared. You can help prepare yourself and your community for disasters by participating in National Preparedness Month with us this year! Be sure to follow us on social media and look out for some of our upcoming events.
|Each week of National Preparedness Month, we will focus on a different preparedness topic including:|
