Design Elements Needing Special Inspections
IBC 2018 Chapter 17, Section 1705 identifies elements that require special inspection. The design professional must identify on the plan cover sheet whether or not special inspection is required for the project. The special inspections reports must be submitted at inspections, prior to final inspection. Submit reports to [email protected]

Flood Plain Requirements
The Elevation Certificate is required in order to properly rate Post-FIRM buildings, which are buildings constructed after publication of the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), located in flood insurance Zones A1–A30, AE, AH, A (with BFE), VE, V1–V30, V (with BFE), AR, AR/A, AR/AE, AR/A1–A30, AR/AH, and AR/AO. The Elevation Certificate is not required for Pre-FIRM buildings unless the building is being rated under the optional Post-FIRM flood insurance rules.
Certificate is required to be on site for new building and addition and presented to inspector for:
- Preliminary building framing inspection
- Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing underground and ground slab inspections.
A completed FEMA Final Certificate is required to be on site for final inspection and prior to issuance of Certificate of Occupancy.
