National Disability Employment Awareness Month
The month of October is designated as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The observance celebrates the contributions of people with disabilities to the American workforce. Congress has promoted the employment of persons with disabilities since 1945, and has enacted robust legislation - including the Americans with Disabilities Act - in support of this objective. The Department of Labor’s timeline of key events in the history of disability and employment can be found here: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/odep/ada30/timeline.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy has issued a poster for National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which reflects this year’s theme, “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation.” The poster is available for download here: https://www.dol.gov/
