Tax Relief and Fee Reduction

Anne Arundel County government is committed to reducing the burden of taxes and fees on citizens and businesses. In June of 2015, County Executive Steve Schuh and the County Council agreed on an income tax rate reduction that is the largest tax cut in county history.
In January of 2016, the two branches of government again worked together to pass the largest fee cut in history by reforming the fee structure for connecting to public utilities. The change eliminated deferral and restocking fees, reduced interest rates, and allowed testing for adequate public facilities at different stages of the development process.
Taxes and fees had increased to the point where they are often cited as a major impediment to new business formation and job creation. The County Executive has promised to reduce a tax or fee each year he is in office.
