      What:

      Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman will launch the county’s 2020 census outreach efforts, along with The City of Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley and other government and community leaders. In accordance with the U.S. Census Bureau’s strategy, the county has formed a Complete Count Committee to encourage everyone within the county to be counted.

      The Brooklyn Park Library is within census tract 7501.01, which had a Low Response Score of 22.4% in the 2010 Census. This is among the lowest response scores in Anne Arundel County.       A grant recently awarded to Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) offers scholarships for service to veterans or students with a prior bachelor's degree. The program will cover tuition, fees, books and a stipend for students interested in pursuing a cybersecurity program at AACC. This information session is open to anyone who wants to learn more about this opportunity. The grant is open to current and prospective AACC students only as it is a pilot program from the National Science Foundation.

    • County Executive Pittman to Create Citizens Environmental Commission Time: 9:00a - 9:30a Location: Smithsonian Environmental Research Center 1074 Cumberstone Road Harwood, MD 20776 Details:

      County Executive Pittman will sign an executive order creating the Anne Arundel County Citizens Environmental Commission. He will highlight the forest mitigation bank setting behind him as an example of innovative environmental solutions. Dr. Anson "Tuck" Hines from the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) and other scientists will be on hand to speak about the forest mitigation bank and answer questions.
