      We are grateful for the overwhelming response to join Steuart at his inauguration! We have received so many requests that the venue will be filled to capacity. If you did not request a ticket online before November 30th or did not RSVP to a formal invitation, we hope you will join us on the Anne Arundel County Facebook page for the Livestream coverage. You will also be able to view the inauguration in its entirety on Arundel TV via YouTube and Cable Channels
       

      Steuart Pittman’s inauguration ceremony as the 10th County Executive of Anne Arundel County will be held at Maryland Hall on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 11:00 am.

      Chair yoga is the ideal way for people who have difficulty getting up and down from the floor to experience yoga.     • Henry Davis Remembrance Time: 6:15p - 7:30p Location: Civil Right Foot Soldier Memorial Details: Civil rights activists will retrace the path of a 102-year-old lynching in Annapolis next week to memorialize one of at least 4,000 black lynching victims.
        

      Henry Davis was taken from the county jail on Calvert Street, tortured and dragged through the streets on Dec. 21, 1906, in Annapolis. No one was ever charged in his murder.

      Annapolis, Md. – Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman will join the county police chief and detention superintendent for a press conference tomorrow to release a report on the impact and future of two one-year-old programs that the county operates in cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

      Background on 287g (from https://www.ice.gov/287g):

       

      Anne Arundel County is one of three Maryland counties that has detention center officers deputized and supervised by ICE to perform immigration enforcement functions pursuant to a Memorandum of Agreement authorized under section 287(g) of the Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996.

       

      Anne Arundel County also operates a detention center for ICE detainees at its Ordnance Road Correctional Center pursuant to an Intergovernmental Service Agreement (IGSA). Up to 130 male adults are held there as they await immigration hearings in Baltimore.
