Stepping On Workshop

Sponsored by Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities, Stepping On is a 7 week workshop designed to help lower the risk of falling in older adults.  Falling can result in serious injury and is one of the leading causes of hospital admissions. The Stepping On Program builds self-confidence in adults to prevent falling as well as teaches exercises to improve strength and balance. Workshops are led by health professional and include local guest experts such as a physical therapist, pharmacist, vision expert and a community safety expert.  The program focuses on a variety of topics including coping after a fall, home modifications, medication review, safe footwear, community safety and better sleeping habits.  Participants explore options and barriers to putting safety strategies into practice.  Join these fun and interactive sessions.  Classes meet once a week for 2 hours. Comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes are recommended.  Registration is required.  Class is limited to 14.  For additional information, please call the Department of Aging at 410-222-4366.
