    • Beginning Tai Chi with Sean Martial (Brooklyn Park Senior Center) Time: 10:45am - 11:45am Locations: Brooklyn Park Senior Activity Center 202 Hammonds Lane Brooklyn Park, MD 21225 Details:

      Tai Chi is a Chinese exercise system that uses slow, smooth body movements to achieve a state of relaxation of both body and mind. As a system of physical exercise used to improve and maintain health, Tai Chi can be helpful in achieving a state of physical and mental relaxation while also strengthening the cardiovascular and immune systems.

      Do you have some physical restrictions that make it difficult to exercise? Take this free chair exercise class for some chair strength training! Joan Coker leads this class, which starts with a warm up then proceeds through a variety of seated and stationary standing exercises (using the chair for support if needed) that are designed to strengthen every muscle in your body! Joan will use resistance bands and a small rubber ball for some of the exercises. Sign up today!

    • Age Defying Balance Workshop - (O'Malley Senior Center) Time: 8:00am - 8:30am Locations: O'Malley Activity Center - 1275 Odenton Road Odenton, MD 21113 Details: As we age, it is no secret the body changes. In this workshop discover and experience ways to move, combat muscle loss, gain flexibility, reduce joint stiffness, and rebuild neural connections with movement.     • Stepping On Workshop Registration Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm Locations: Virtual Event Details: Stepping On is a 7 week fall prevention workshop. Participants will build confidence and overcome their fear of falling.  Participants who attend the 2 hour class on a weekly basis will learn:
      • Strength and balance exercises you can adapt to your individual level
      • To get back on your feet and recover from a fall
      • To identify and remove or avoid fall hazards in your home and outside
      • How vision, hearing, medication and footwear affect your risk of falling
