
Reclaiming a Pet
The process of reclaiming a pet that is in the care and custody of Animal Control.

If the pet is at Animal Control, the owner will need to be prepared to complete the steps below in the How to section to reclaim the animal.
To reclaim your pet you must:
1. Come to Anne Arundel County Animal Control during business hours.
2. Have valid ID
3. Be able to provide provide proof of ownership by providing one of the following:
4. Provide proof that your animal has a current rabies vaccination (for dogs, cats and ferrets of age for vaccination). If your pet did not arrive with a current a rabies vaccination you will be charged for one during redemption and it will be administered.
5. Provide proof of license for your pet. If you are an Anne Arundel County resident and your pet was not licensed prior to arrival a license will be issued at the time of redemption and you will be charged accordingly (late fees apply if your pet was licensed and the license has lapsed).
6. Comply with all conditions required for the return of the animal (i.e. comply with all conditions in Administrative Orders by Animal Control and comply with modifications to your home/yard to ensure the keeping of your pet will be in compliance with State and County laws) (if applicable)
7. Pay all applicable fees (including redemption/reclaimation fees (see below) and any outstanding fines (unless adjudication has been requested))
Redemption fees are payable by CASH or CREDIT ONLY and includes, but is not limited to:
