Serious Injury Crash                                                                              Glen Burnie
 
On June 26, 2019 at approximately 5:22 p.m., officers responded to Maryland Route 10 (MD 10) southbound, north of Mountain Road in Glen Burnie for a single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
 
AAA road service was assisting a disabled motorist on the left shoulder of MD 10. A Ford truck was traveling southbound on MD 10 and struck the AAA employee. The AAA employee was transported by ground to University of Maryland, R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford truck remained on the scene.
 
Preliminary, the primary cause of the crash was the driver of the Ford truck failing to remain in a single lane. Alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed to this crash. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the crash investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
 
The Anne Arundel County Police want to remind motorists to attempt to move over if possible when approaching from behind a service vehicle stopped on the shoulder of a road. This includes transportation, service and utility vehicles, waste and recycling trucks, tow trucks, fire and police vehicles that have their lights flashing. If moving over is not possible, please slow to a reasonable and prudent speed that is safe for existing weather, road, and vehicular or pedestrian traffic conditions.

Serious Injury Pedestrian Crash                                                                 Arnold
 
On June 25, 2019 at approximately 10:26 p.m., officers responded to a pedestrian struck on northbound Governor Ritchie Hwy (MD-2) at West Campus Drive in Arnold.
 
The Ford was northbound on Ritchie Hwy and just passing the intersection at West Campus Drive when the pedestrian attempted to cross the roadway eastbound, not in a marked crosswalk. At the time of the crash, the intersection signals were on flashing yellow for the Ford.  The driver & his passengers remained at the scene and called 911 as did a 3rd party witness.
 
The pedestrian was taken by Maryland State Police helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical, life threatening injuries. The driver & passengers in the Ford were not injured.
 
The preliminary cause of the crash is the pedestrian failing to yield to roadway traffic. There is no indication of excessive speed, drug or alcohol use by the Ford driver. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
