On April 15, 2017 at approximately 3:11 a.m., an officer was conducting business checks in the 700 block of Rt. 3 when he observed a Honda van with a dirt bike hanging out of the side door.   When the driver of the van observed the officer in his fully marked police vehicle, he drove into Leo’s RV Lot and attempted to hide. When the officer followed the van into the lot, the van began to flee at a high rate of speed striking two RV’s in the parking lot.

The officer, believing the driver was involved in a burglary at one of the businesses in the area, activated his emergency equipment and followed the van onto Rt. 3.  As the officer followed the van, another officer checking the area observed a large glass window to Honda Power Sports (747 Rt. 3 N) broken out with obvious signs a burglary occurred.

As the suspect van approached the intersection of Bel Air Drive and Rt. 301 located in PG County, it struck a curb and came to a stop.  The driver bailed out of the vehicle but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.  The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

An employee of Honda Power Sports was notified and responded. The employee identified the dirt bike as belonging to the business that was taken unlawfully during the burglary.
