      Providing Information to Family Caregivers, Social Workers, Nurses, Home Care Workers, Long-Term Care Facility Workers and Other Professional Caregivers and Interested Individuals

      The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities has once again teamed with local organizations and businesses to provide a day filled with useful and educational information and resources for both informal and professional caregivers.

      Topics will provide caregivers with practical tools and essential information. In addition, caregivers will have a chance to network with fellow caregivers, both informal and professional.

      Vendors from local businesses and non -profit organizations will be on hand to share resources and information to assist you with your caregiving needs.

    • B&A Trail Earth Day Clean Up Time: 9:00a - 12:00p Location: B&A Trail Details: Meet at the parking lot by Oak Lane and the B&A Trail for a Ranger led hike south on the B&A Trail to celebrate Earth Day by collecting as much litter as we can in 3 hours. Trash bags, pick sticks and insect repellent will be provided. Also provided will be water and snacks. Please wear gloves, outdoor shoes or boots and clothes that can get dirty. Scout groups are welcome. This FREE family event is for all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration required, call (410) 222-6244.
       
       
    • Plant Sale Time: 9:00a - 2:00p Location: Historic London Town and Gardens Details:

      Our annual plant sale returns, featuring an emphasis on native annuals and perennials. Among the herbaceous annuals and perennials available will be vegetables and herbs, Azaleas and Rhododendrons, flowering annuals in baskets and flats, and plants found in London Town’s horticultural collections. Bags of soil and kits to make a small fairy or dinosaur garden will also be available for purchase. Members and volunteers receive a 10% discount on plants all weekend.

    • Quiet Waters Park Earth Day Expo 2017 Time: 10:00a - 4:00p Location: Quiet Waters Park Details:

      Join us for a celebration of environmental education, partnerships and volunteering. Junior Park Ranger activities are for ages 4-12. All other activities will be open to all ages.

      This EXPO is an educational and vocational event, which will provide attendees with information about benefits, services, and resources available to military families in our community. The expo is free and will include exhibits of vendors, organizations, and businesses.
       

      We will start with a presentation of colors at 10:00 a.m. and offer exhibits and workshops throughout the day until 4:00 p.m.  County Executive Steve Schuh and Maryland Secretary of Veterans Affairs George W. Owens III are confirmed to speak at this event. Moreover, there will be information on veteran’s financial assistance, housing, and medical care as well as presentations regarding employment opportunities, resume writing, and interviewing skills.

      The Commission was established in May 2009 and is an all-volunteer organization comprised of military veterans and County residents. The VAC serves as a forum for military veterans, maintains coordinated communication with county and local governments and businesses, and provides guidance and information

    • Heritage Hike Time: 11:00a - 12:30p Location: Beverly Triton Beach Park Details: Cultural resource specialists will be conducting a heritage and natural resources tour through Beverly-Triton Beach Park on Saturday, April 22, 2017. The tour will begin at 11am at the main entrance of the park (at the end of Triton Beach Road) and will take about two hours. Come join us on this leisurely stroll through the woods and along the beach as we explore the changing landscape of the park from 2,000 years ago up to today! We will discuss Native American oyster consumption at the park as well as the area’s early maritime history and even the bygone Beach Resort past!     • Explore Mosses Time: 2:00p - 4:00p Location: Jug Bay Wetland Sanctuary Details:

      Tiny but tenacious, mosses are miraculous in their ability to colonize and thrive in a wide variety of habitats. Come learn about the diversity of mosses at the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. We’ll have a short talk to introduce you to mosses and then head outside and examine some of the native mosses with a hand lens. Age: 8 and older. Fee: $6 per vehicle entrance fee.
