Motor Vehicle Collision- Odenton
 
On January 9th at 3:23 p.m. firefighters responded to a report of an auto accident with occupants trapped in the 8900 block of Piney Orchard Parkway, near Patuxent Road. Firefighters located a head-on collision involving two SUVs. One SUV came to rest in the woods against a tree with the driver heavily entrapped. Firefighters extricated the 49-year-old female who was the only occupant of the vehicle in about 30 minutes. Paramedics transported her to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were serious but did not appear life-threatening. The second driver, a 19-year-old male, was also the only occupant of his vehicle. He was able to self extricate from his SUV before the arrival of firefighters. He was transported to the trauma center at John Hopkins Bayview with injuries that were also serious but not believed life-threatening.
 
Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision- Crownsville
 
On January 9th at 5:33 a.m. firefighters responded to a report of an auto accident involving a motorcycle in the area of northbound I-97 near Hawkins Road. Witnesses reported to firefighters that they observed a motorcycle veer off the roadway, flip over and come to rest at the guardrail. Firefighters located the 58-year-old male operator of the motorcycle and determined that he had suffered fatal injuries. The Maryland State Police is the primary investigating agency.
