Dwelling Fire- Annapolis (Heritage Harbor)

Description of Structure/Property: One-story, middle of the row townhouse

Injuries or Deaths: A female occupant, believed to be in her 80s, was removed from the home by firefighters. She was treated by paramedics and transported to the Burn Center at John Hopkins Bayview Hospital by Maryland State Police helicopter with critical, life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported a second patient to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.

Additional Information: Firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting a dwelling fire with an occupant trapped. First arriving firefighters reported smoke from the front of the one-story, middle-of-the-row townhouse. They entered and quickly removed a female occupant and extinguished a small fire that the residential sprinkler system had contained. The Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit is on the scene investigating the cause.


 

UPDATE ON APRIL 26TH FIRE

Area of Origin: Living room couch

Preliminary Cause: Accidental, caused by use of smoking materials in an area with home oxygen

Danielle Neal, 63 died on April 30, 2022, as a result of her injuries from the fire on April 26th. This is the fourth fire death in Anne Arundel County in 2022. 

  • April 13- Joann Marie Smith, 75, died as a result of injuries sustained during a fire in her home on April 11th in the 8200 block of Portsmouth Drive in Severn. The home did have working smoke alarms.
     
  • March 18- Darlene Feeheley, 68, died in a fire in her home in the unit block of Greenwood Avenue in Glen Burnie. The home did have working smoke alarms.
     
  • March 9- Christopher Blaine Isaksen, 62, died in a fire at his home in the 7900 block of Quarterfield Road in Severn. The home did not have working smoke alarms.

There were two fire fatalities from one fire incident in 2021 and three fire fatalities from three fire incidents in 2020.
