Type of Incident: Dwelling Fire

Description of Structure/Property: Two-story, single-family dwelling

A 51-year-old male occupant was transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to the Burn Center at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. He had burns to his hands and feet, as well as smoke inhalation. His injuries are initially considered to be serious but not believed life-threatening. Paramedics transported a firefighter to the Burn Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with minor burn injuries.

Additional Information: Firefighters arrived to find a two-story single-family home with fire coming from a second-floor window in the front. They located and extinguished a fire in a bedroom on the second floor. The Red Cross is assisting two displaced occupants. The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit.
