Arundel Olympic Swim Center Closure Notice

The Arundel Olympic Swim Center will be closed for annual facility maintenance from July 4 to September 7th, 2026, and will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 During this period, the North Arundel Aquatic Center will remain open.


Arundel Olympic Swim Center is open seven days a week.  Areas of the indoor pools at times may be closed for programming or classes.

Arundel Olympic Swim Center General Rules

1. Admission or program fees must be paid or aquatic passes shown prior to entering the natatorium. All patrons must enter through the main entrance & check in at the front desk; failure to do so may result in removal from the facility.
 
2. All children must be 100% toilet trained to swim in the pools; no swim diapers. Individuals who wear diapers or are seen wearing diapers in our facility will not be permitted to swim. Removing a diaper will not allow an individual to enter the pool.
 
3. Youth 12 & under must be accompanied by a paid adult 18 years or older. One paying adult is required for every 5 children under the age of 12. The adult is responsible for the direct supervision of the children in their care. Children must not be left alone.
 
4. Hyperventilation, prolonged underwater swimming for distance & underwater breathing exercises are not permitted. Swimmers must not exceed 25yd without breathing. Swimmers may not hold their breath for longer than 30 seconds. The use of weight belts, freedive weights, scuba weights, or similar devices to weigh oneself down is not allowed.
 
6. Persons unable to tread water for 60 seconds & swim 25 yards without stopping are not permitted in water over their shoulders. A swim test may be required of any person prior to swimming in the deep end, if deemed necessary by the pool staff.
 
7. Balls, dive sticks, water rings, etc. are prohibited except during an AOSC sponsored program.
 
8. Kickboards, pull buoys, water weights, noodles, etc must be used properly. Non-swimmers utilizing them must have direct, in the water within arm’s reach, adult supervision.
 
9. All entries must be feet first, facing forward. Dives may only be used in the deep end & must be facing forward.
 
10. All flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard approved. No person requiring a flotation device can be in water over 5ft. Inflatable flotation devices are prohibited. Use of an approved flotation device by a non-swimmer in water over their head requires direct, in the water within arm’s reach, adult supervision.
 
11. Running, pushing, horseplay, & foul language are prohibited at all times in the facility.
 
12. Building fixtures such as railings, diving board frames, benches, lane signs, etc are not to be used outside of intended use. Do not sit on, climb on/through/under, use as exercise equipment, or anchor any equipment to them.
 
13. Glass containers, pets, food & gum are prohibited in the pool, locker rooms & on the pool deck.
 
14. Patrons under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will not be admitted to the facility.
 
15. Smoking is prohibited inside the facility, out front of the facility, & in parking areas.
 
16. Any patron having an open wound, skin disease, nasal/ear discharge, inflamed eyes or any other communicable disease, will be prohibited from the pool & spa.
 
17. All swimmers are strongly encouraged to shower before entering the pool.
 
18. Swimsuits appropriate for a family facility are required. No make shift suits are permitted.

19. No underwater photography or filming allowed without permission from the Facility Superintendent.

20. No photography equipment, cell phone cameras, or recording devices of any kind can be used in the locker rooms.

21. Refunds will not be issued for closings due to fecal accidents, weather & other safety issues. The pool, pool deck, & mezzanine will be cleared during lightning storms. Showering is not allowed during lightning storms.
 

LAP LANE RULES 

1. Lap lanes are for lap swimming & constant exercise only. Patrons not performing constant exercise should remain in the designated recreational play area. Please group yourselves according to ability. 
2. Due to limited lap lanes, we require that patrons share their lanes accordingly. 
3. Three or more swimmers: Swim counter clockwise in a single file line, staying on the right side of the lane (allowing faster swimmers to be able to pass slower swimmers) 
4. Swimmers are not permitted to hang on or sit on the lane lines. 
5. Starting blocks may only be used by Recreation & Parks approved programs.
   

SPA RULES 

1. Patrons must be at least 18 years of age to use the spa. 
2. Pregnant women & patrons with cardiovascular problems, diabetes, & high or low blood pressure should not enter the spa without medical consultation. 
3. The maximum capacity is 16. 
4. A 10-minute time limit is suggested. 
5. It is not recommended for patrons to enter the pool immediately after utilizing the spa. 
6. No jumping or diving into the spa. 
 

CHILDREN’S RULES

1. All children must be 100% toilet trained to swim in the pools; no swim diapers. Individuals who wear diapers or are seen wearing diapers in our facility will not be permitted to swim. Removing a diaper will not allow an individual to enter the pool. 
2. It is encouraged that children 6 years of age & over & of the opposite sex from their parent/guardian use the gender neutral restrooms or the family changing rooms. 
3. Children in flotation devices must have direct parental supervision
4. Balls, dive sticks, water rings, noodles, etc. are prohibited in the pool except during an AOSC sponsored program.

A swim test may be required of any person prior to swimming in the deep end, if deemed necessary by the pool staff. The test will consist of treading water for 60 seconds & swimming 25 yds without stopping.

Lifeguards have the authority to enforce all pool rules. These rules may not be 100% comprehensive & may not cover every application. Patrons who repeatedly violate the rules will be ejected. The Recreation & Parks Department reserves the right to refuse admittance into the facility when the maximum capacity of the pool has been reached or when otherwise deemed necessary for the health, welfare, or safety of its patrons.

The Arundel Olympic Swim Center features a temperature controlled, indoor 50 meter by 25 yard swimming pool with adjacent wading pool, a poolside 17-person spa and fully equipped locker rooms. The swim center is handicapped accessible. Lanes are continuously available for lap and recreational swimming.   

The Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks promotes health and wellness in our community through a variety of quality programming. At our two public indoor swimming facilities, Arundel Olympic Swim Center and North Arundel Aquatic Center, lanes are available for lap and fitness swimming. The facilities are handicap accessible and include fully equipped locker rooms with coin operated lockers. Youth 12 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. All persons using the pools must be at least 3 years old and fully toilet-trained; swim diapers are not permitted.
