Solley Road Improvement Study - H545905

Project Background:

The Department of Public Works is proposing to upgrade conditions along Solley Road from MD 177 to MD 173 to improve travel conditions for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.  The proposed design includes a 2-lane cross-section throughout the corridor, which will match the existing cross-section.  However, additional turn lanes are recommended to mitigate unacceptable traffic conditions, and revisions to roadway geometrics are proposed.  Roundabouts are being considered at several intersections along the corridor.  Upgraded bicycle facilities are recommended in the form of on-road bicycle lanes, and additional pedestrian facilities are proposed in the form of sidewalks.  A road-side shared-use path is proposed for use by both pedestrians and bicyclists.

The scope of this project is for a traffic study only.  However, a capital project may be initiated in the future to implement the recommendations of the study.

The Department of Public Works is requesting that residents review the study report and associated documents below and comment on the study within the next 30 days.
