Jumpers Hole Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements

Project Background:

This project entails the development of a planning study that will focus on Jumpers Hole Road between Benfield Road and Kinder Road. This segment of the road network has experienced an increase in traffic volumes and serves as access to a local school and park. The potential issues that have developed include, but are not limited to, sight distance, speed, and a lack of pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

The primary objective is to identify improvement alternatives that correct existing roadway deficiencies and include provisions for pedestrians and bicyclists to access local destinations while accounting for vehicular traffic needs, or a Complete Streets approach.  This includes an evaluation of traffic data, crash history, roadway deficiencies, historical data on County landmarks, and existing roadway geometrics and traffic control.  A 2004 study was conducted along this corridor using similar information, so the current project serves as an update to that study.
