Governor Stone Parkway Planning Study

Project Background:

The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPW) is proposing a new shared use path along Governor Stone Parkway between East West Boulevard and Benfield Boulevard. The project intent is to develop a concept study that compares benefits, costs, and impacts of up to three alternatives. Concepts were developed utilizing existing County mapping and right-of-way information. The conceptual design was evaluated for the feasibility of adding a shared use path on one or both sides of Governor Stone Parkway including the analysis of upgrading the existing trail to the east of East West Boulevard intersection to a standard 10-foot wide trail for a length of 500 feet. The implementation of Environmental Site Design (ESD) to the Maximum Extent Possible (MEP) in accordance with the Maryland SWM Act of 2007, COMAR, section 26.17.02 is utilized for all three alternatives (see presentation below).
