  • How can I obtain a copy of my Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI) training transcript?
    MFRI transcripts can be obtained by contacting MFRI at 1 (800)-ASK-MFRI (1-800-275-6374) or a transcript request form can be downloaded at www.MFRI.org. The transcript form is listed under the contract section.
  • How can I obtain a copy of my National Fire Academy training transcript?
    NFA Transcript Request form can be downloaded at www.usfa.fema.gov. The form must be completed and faxed to the NFA at 301-447-1441. Complete instructions are available on the NFA website.
  • How can I obtain a copy of my Anne Arundel County Fire Department training transcript?
    Requests for Anne Arundel County Fire Department training transcripts must be submitted in writing via email to the Training Academy at firetraining@aacounty.org The email request must include name, home address and badge number. Transcripts will be mailed to the address provided or they can be picked up in person (photo identification required) at the Training Academy during normal business hours.
  • Who do I contact with questions regarding National Fire Academy courses? (applications, meal money, etc.)
    All questions regarding NFA programs should be directed to Operations Officer (Captain) at the Training Academy.
  • Who do I contact with questions regarding MFRI courses?
    All questions regarding MFRI programs should be directed to the Special Projects Coordinator at the Training Academy.
  • How do I become an acting officer? (Career Personnel)
    Career firefighters wishing to become certified as an acting officer must complete an Acting Out of Class Qualification Worksheet and Acting Lieutenant Skills Competency Documentation form (form dated March 21, 2005). The completed form and required documentation must be submitted to the Deputy Chief of Fire & Rescue Operations. Both forms are available from the Training Academy.
  • How do I become a Recruit Training Officer?
    Personnel wishing to serve as a Recruit Training Officer should submit a Special Report to the commander of the Training Academy. The Special Report should note all training, certifications, experience and qualifications.
  • Can my fire company (Anne Arundel County Companies) use the Training Academy to conduct company level training exercises?
    (Except Flashover Simulator, see Flashover Simulator training for more information on reserving this property). Career and Volunteer Companies can reserve use of the Training Academy facility (classrooms or training props) by contacting the Training Academy Logistics Officer. It is recommended that requests be submitted 2-3 months in advance. All live fire training must be supervised by a MFRI Level II Instructor and conducted in accordance with NFPA 1403(Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions). All other training must be supervised by a County recognized officer or a State or Nationally certified level I instructor. If your company does not have a MFRI Level II instructor, the Training Academy can assist in providing an instructor.
  • Can my company use the flashover simulator for training?
    The Flashover Simulator is available for use from November 1st – March 31. Career and Volunteer Companies can reserve the Flashover Simulator by contacting the Training Academy Logistics Officer. It is recommended that requests be submitted 2-3 months in advance. All Flashover Simulator training must be supervised by a member of the Training Academy staff or an adjunct instructor appointed by the Training Academy and approved by the commander of the Training Academy. The lead instructor must be trained in the use of the Flashover Simulator and be a MFRI Level II Instructor. Contact the Training Academy Logistics Officer for further information.
  • Does the Training Academy maintain a record of all the training classes I have attended?
    The Training Academy maintains a record of all training that is documented by a Training Report. All personnel are encouraged to submit training reports for all training attended (company drills, in-service training, MFRI, NFA, etc). Please include copies of all MFRI pocket cards with Training Reports.
