Living Healthy with High Blood Pressure is an interactive 2.5 hour educational module designed to teach participants how to control their hypertension. Activities/topics covered during the workshop include: What is High Blood Pressure, Problems with Salt/Sodium Intake, Home Monitoring Tips, The Salty 6, and Knowing Your Numbers. Almost 80% of the salt we eat comes from processed and / or packaged foods. Learn how to identify the sodium content of common foods.
Upon completion of the class, participants will be familiar with the risk factors associated with high blood pressure as well as learn tools to keep blood pressure in a healthy range. Other points discussed in the class include: how to take your BP medications, appropriate questions to ask your health care provider and how to decrease your salt when eating out (did you know that bread contains alot of salt??).
