A Public Forum on Human Trafficking
A Public Forum on Human Trafficking was hosted by the Anne Arundel County Commission for Women and the Anne Arundel Community College. Maryland is the third largest state for sex trafficking and over 100,000 U.S. children are trapped in this abhorrent practice. The event was moderated by Terri R. Ricks, J.D. Maryland Human Trafficking Taskforce Co-Chair. A distinguished panel committed to helping these victim shared their insights and expertise to over 100 people who attended this event.
Teen Dating Toolbox
The Anne Arundel County Commission for Women presented Teen Dating Toolbox - a community outreach event focused on informing students and parents to recognize the signs of dating violence and know the resources available for avoidance of and recovery from risky situations, featuring: Sharon Love, cofounder of the One Love Foundation and mother of Yeardley Love, a UVA student victim of dating violence; a mother/daughter team that successfully resolved a dangerous situation, and organizational and professional resources to help teens, family and friends identify the red flags of unhealthy relationships.
