Warrant Apprehension

The Sheriff’s Office is the primary clearinghouse for court orders of arrest in Anne Arundel County. These documents include arrest warrants, bench warrants, body attachments, fugitive warrants, governor’s warrants, grand jury indictments, and juvenile detention orders. It is commonplace to collectively refer to arrest orders as simply warrants.

The Sheriff’s Office operates three units which specialize in warrant service. These members make over 4,000 arrests each year. The Sheriff’s Office also regularly coordinates and publishes a

list of Most Wanted individuals. Participating agencies in this effort include the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the Annapolis Police Department, and the Maryland State Police. Each month 12 “wanted” individuals are profiled on Anne Arundel County Government Cable Channel. Citizen’s are encouraged to pass on information concerning the whereabouts of any wanted individual to 410-222-1490 or their local law enforcement agency.

Effective October 1, 2007, fees for Service of Process will increase statewide (Annotated Code of Maryland, Article-Courts and Judicial Proceedings, Section 7-402).
