| Open Days at Hammond's Connection |
Throughout 2011, Hammond’s Connection will be open once a month for visitors to reconnect with the land through a variety of activities. Special programs, tours of the Hammond family cemetery, hay rides, kids crafts, and 4-H animals all make for a fun day. No program in July. Check back for as we schedule more programs and sign up for email notices of events.

 | Hammond Family History Sun, Sep 18 1:00-4:00pm Take the hay ride to Hammond’s Connection and learn about the life and times of the Hammond family and their role in early Anne Arundel County history. Volunteers from the Odenton Heritage Society will provide guided tours of the cemetery and home site. |

| Welcome Home Bluebirds! Sun, Mar 20 1:00-4:00pm Come walk along the park’s Bluebird Trail to learn how to monitor our bird boxes to document how many are being used by bluebirds, chickadees, and swallows. This program is a training for volunteers interested in the weekly nest box monitoring program. |
Reptiles and Amphibians Sun, Apr 17 1:00-4:00pm Be prepared to walk along the stream and floodplain to search for the frogs, toads, turtles and other herps. Rubber boots or old sneakers are recommended (no Crocs, flip flops or water sandals) and a change of clothes—just in case. |  |
 | A Birding Adventure Sat, May 21 8:00am-noon During May, migrating birds stop in the woods and fields on their way to their spring breeding grounds. Join expert birders from the Anne Arundel Bird Club for an early morning bird walk to learn more about the birds of Maryland. Bird walks for beginners and families will start at 9 am and 10 am. Be prepared to walk in fields and forest edges; wear sturdy hiking shoes and long pants. |
Celebrate National Trails Day Sat, June 4 Time: 10:00am-2:00pm Spend time hiking the lanes through the Dairy Farm and the natural surface trails of Hammond's Connection. Trails for different hiking abilities and ages will be marked. Be prepared to walk in fields and forest edges; wear sturdy hiking shoes and long pants. Bikes will be allowed on the farm lanes. |  |
