County Executive John R. Leopold dedicated the grand re-opening of the Matthewstown-Harmans Community Park in Hanover on Saturday, October 21, 2009, to commemorate the improvement to the park. County Executive Leopold along with County Councilman Daryl Jones, State Delegate Mary Ann Love, Harmans Civic Association (HCA) President Wayne Dixon, HCA Officer Rusty Bristow and HCA Member Jan Atwood participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony. The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by neighborhood-sponsored Halloween costume parade.

County Executive Leopold, working alongside the Matthewstown and Harmans communities and Recreation and Parks, implemented a plan resulting in the development of the newly renovated Matthewstown - Harmans Park.  Matthewstown-Harmans Community Park offers upgraded amenities such as a playground with swings, basketball and tennis courts, picnic pavilion, walking trail, community gardens and open play areas.
