2013 Final Draft Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan (LPPRP)

   General Information

The Anne Arundel County Council will conduct a Public Hearing on the final draft of the 2013 Land Preservation Parks and Recreation Plan on April 15, 2013.  The Plan is the subject of Council Bill No 17-13 to be voted on in the near future.  This plan will guide the Department of Recreation and Parks in preserving open space and providing recreation facilities for the next fifteen years, with updates performed every five years.  This document is required by the State of Maryland, and allows the County to receive land acquisition and park development funds from Program Open Space.
The 2013 Plan is the result of a two year effort that included five public meetings, an on-line survey and public comments received through this website. The plan was reviewed by the Planning Advisory Board (PAB) on January 23, 2013 and additional public comments were received.  Based on comments received from The Planning Advisory Board, the Department of Recreation and Parks, and its consultant Environmental Resources Management (ERM), revised The Plan and submitted a final draft to the County Council.  The County Council public hearing, which will also include several other pieces of legislation, will commence at 7:00 p.m. on April 15, 2013 in the Council Chambers, Arundel Center, 44 Calvert Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. (Telephone  410-222-7000). The County Council will receive written and verbal testimony at the public hearing.  The final draft Plan is available online (see link below) or by contacting the Department of Recreation and Parks at 410-222-7317.
The Department of Recreation and Parks extends its appreciation to all county residents who participated in this process.  Please contact the Department at 410-222-7317 if you have any questions regarding the 2013 Land Preservation Parks and Recreation Plan.
