Cartop Boat Launch

Situated on the Chesapeake Bay, Downs Park offers a variety of natural and recreational activities throughout its 236-acres. The park is also an excellent site for windsurfers and kite boarders. Attention to safety and weather conditions is paramount to boaters prior to launching from this site due to its proximity to the shipping channel. Park is open from 7:00 a.m. to dusk. Park is closed on Tuesdays. For further information call (410) 222-6230.

     
Fishing Spot

About Downs Park
Downs Park offers more than five miles of paved and natural trails, including a guided nature trail. The park also has a fishing pier, children’s playground, aviary, four handball courts, two softball fields, and three basketball courts available to visitors on a first-come, first-serve basis. Four pavilions, a wedding garden, a youth camping area and the Chesapeake Room are available for rent. The park property is rich in history, which has been preserved by the park’s Historical Society and is on display in the Visitor Center.
     
Directions
From Annapolis, take Route 2 (Solomon’s Island Road) north to Route 100 east where it ends at Route 177 (Mountain Road). Turn right onto Mountain Road. Travel on Mountain Road until it veers off toward Gibson Island. Stay to the left on Pinehurst Drive. Park entrance is on the right.
