| Philosophy/ Program |
The Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks is pleased to be able to offer state licensed School-Age Child Care (SACC) programs in neighborhood schools throughout Anne Arundel County. The SACC programs provide a nurturing environment that promotes social interaction, community integration, physical development and intellectual growth in accordance with the State Child Care Regulations and the NSACA Standards for Quality School-Age Child Care.
Activities will include opportunities for individual and group participation, while providing a balance between self-selected and staff-directed activities. There will be a full component of arts & crafts, sports, and games. Social skills and self-esteem activities as well as other enrichment opportunities will also compliment the program. In addition, all outdoor facilities will be utilized to augment the regular programming. |

| Employment Opportunities |
The Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks School Age Child Care program is looking for energetic, enthusiastic individuals to work part-time with children in kindergarten through 8th grade.
This is a great opportunity for the retired teacher, teachers getting ready to return to the workforce, college students, high school seniors, or anyone who is interested in making a difference in the lives of school-age youth.
Morning and/or afternoon hours are available with a maximum of 25 - 30 hours per week. Supplement your income while helping to shape the future of our youth. |

| Minimum Staff Qualifications for Director, Child Care Teacher, Child Care Assistant & Aide |

| Director |
- Minimum Age – 21 years
- Training – a total of 135 clock hours (or 9 credit hours) in the following: 45 clock hours child development, 45 clock hours of school-age curriculum, and 45 clock hours of child care administration
- Additional Pre-Service Requirements – 9 clock hours in communication with staff, parents & the public, and 3 clock hours in OCC regulations
- Education – High School Diploma or GED
- Experience – 400 hours under supervision primarily with school age children or 1 year as a registered Family Day Care Provider (school age)

| Child Care Teacher |
- Minimum Age – 19 years
- Training – a total of 90 clock hours (or 6 credit hours) in the following: 45 clock hours child development, 45 clock hours of school-age curriculum.
- Additional Pre-Service Requirements – 9 clock hours in communication with staff, parents & the public.
- Education – High School Diploma or GED
- Experience – 400 hours under supervision primarily with school age children or 1 year of college or a combination of College + Experience = 1 year

| Child Care Assistant |
- Minimum Age – 18 years
- Education – High School Diploma or GED
- Training/Experience – 800 hours under supervision primarily with school age children or 600 hours experience + 15 clock hours of approved college coursework or 400 hours experience + 3 semester hours of approved college coursework
- Additional Pre-Service Requirements – 9 clock hours in communication with staff, parents & the public.
